Periodically we get those requests for sugar motors formulas... Well, I hope I'm not breaking the rules here, but the secret's out. These guys didn't spend a lot of bread, or scratch their noodles for 100's & 1000's of hours just for some crumby sugar motor formula...



Normally it'd be all wet. ;)

Hrmm, the Dead Sea is like 200g/Kg mixed chlorides.... how much extra mass can be fit in there to be squeezed out by the air ( assuming they're eyeballing by volume ).
 
I fear that this group needs some professional guidance on theory. Those of us with experience will agree that solids in the exhaust are to be minimized, as Isp is dramatically and unfavorably affected.

The last one had appreciably more liquid by weight than the others, although the solid component was....unconventional

Is there a good rule of thumb for noodle to throat ratio? Looked like a Cn of ~4 (Cup'a noodles)
 
I would like to see details of the recovery system set up...Or a kit for the whole thing including the pad socket for the air compressor and release mech.

-- as long as you don't veer into the non-Newtonian regime, fluids are fluids -- right?
 
If the idea to increase Isp is to eject a heavier fluid at a higher pressure, Hg at a few thousand psi would do it...
 
I saw mythbusters doing something with water rockets, the horizontally launched ones went farther...the water came out over a longer period of time. perhaps a pipe inside with small holes near the nozzle end so that air and water come out together...just thinking.
