This forum is for ORGANIC posting of deals you have found specific to rocketry. This includes eBay, Amazon, Craigslist, industry and other deals. Do not post spam in here. Any user who abuses this forum by being a shill for a company and posting their deals over and over will be banned forever from this website. Do not add your affiliate ID's to links, instant banning for trying to use this forum for spam.

Are those like a credit for a referral? For example, if I can get someone to follow my link to get a discount (and I get a reward), I'd get banned? I'm only asking (as I don't know of any such program at this time).

Yes, just that. Amazon does it quite a bit. Register on Amazon as an affiliate, link to products with the affiliate ID and if a sale goes through from that link, you get a small kick-back. Happens all the time on review sites and YouTube videos.

So, if you haven't registered as an "affiliate" anywhere, you can't go afoul of this new forum's rules and get banned?

That's my take on it. I don't know what happens when you run across a link to something that you'd like to post but it has an affiliate link for someone else and you had no idea.

I'm trying to figure out what an organic deal is.
I see a sweet deal on $ROCKET_THING. I post about this amazing opportunity. People buy it or don't, no skin off my nose either way. I receive no benefit, and there is no actual or apparent conflict of interest.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I was thinking maybe pesticide free motors. Or non GMO balsa wood.:D

This is a huge deal on forums. Folks, this forum is supported by advertising and without advertising, the forum would not be here for us to use. We should be honestly sharing products on the forum that we like and use but link to them directly without a code.

If you are sharing a product you found, do so with a direct link to the product. Do not use a link from youtube or another forum. A lot of folks use affiliate code to get a "kickback" for using their post or video as click bait to get you to buy the product.

If you find a product on Youtube or a forum that you want to share, search for it on Amazon and eBay and then use the link in you address bar of your browser to provide a link. You will never get an affiliate code if you do it this way.

Thanks, that makes sense.

CW, got some questions. Is this for any vendor that I see has a good rocketry related deal? And how does my providing that info "support the forum by advertising"? I can see the obvious benefit for the users, but how does the forum benefit? Thanks for any clarification.#duh

Yes for any vendor that has a good deal, but not the same one all the time as we will be watching for someone just using it as an advertising platform for one or two people/places all the time.

In the ads the forum gets a few cents each time someone clicks on them.

The new forum for deals will benefit as it will draw even more members and they may click on ads, become a member and then a supporting member, etc.

(To me, this just further proves the internet as a whole is becoming a sleazy salesman with double dipping & back pocket deals.. And we, the public, are kept in the dark /are non-the-wiser.. but I'm just being paranoid because I don't fully understand it all..)

I see these kind of deals in the Yardsale forum, someone posts their Ebay item / link. does this replace that?

If they are selling, it still goes in the sell area.
But, if they see a good deal on ebay and want to share the news, then they put it in the Deal area.
