Yes, very funny indeed. (It's rare that I literally laugh out loud at any of these, but that one got me.)
As for the pole and locker in the tracks, those not only are not active but apparently never were. Notice that the rails have a side-to-side discontinuity right where the locker is. Also, the rails have lots of surface rust even though the ties look brand new. There are no spikes holding the rails to the ties, even though the plates are in place. And there's no gravel ballast. It looks like these are new materials being readied to be installed, probably replacing the ties up on the gravel that have seen better days.
