There already sold out of lots of his models on amazon. I hope to order some of his micro maxx ones. I think there cool. Just hope i can find the mudwasp that one looks so cool.

There just isn't a lot of money in these businesses that one guy can buy out the other for the price that the seller usually wants. The margins are low and that makes the payback periods on buyouts too long to be justifiable in most cases.
(My underlines)

But Mr. Flis knows this, and is smart enough to only to expect a realistic amount.

I don't know the business, but as I understand it most of the expense in bringing a new design to market is up front. A bullet-proof design that remains safe even with some build errors. Testing. Setup for making the parts that go in the bag. Face card design. Etc., etc. All of that is done with Jim's product line, so it's a bargain to another buyer if the seller is realistic about what he can get. Which Jim is smart enough to be.

Jim, please do find a buyer, if you can. Even if it's not for the whole company intact then just for the marvelous designs and any special tooling and/or special supplier arrangements you use. Whatever you can get for it (them) is more than one gets by just shutting down and walking away.

If you have signed up for the eRockets electronic newsletter you got some good news today on a specific Dr Zooch kit and a tease on some more.

Digging through the boxes and storage containers for something else I was surprised at how many Fliskit models I have waiting to be built...not sure which one will hit the build pile - Decaffinator? Spitfire? Praetor? Corona? Tomahawk? So many cool designs from the minds at Fliskits...

I bought the Falcoln Heavy thinking I got the last of the old Zooch kits; now I guess I got one of the first new ones. :D

At this time, the expectation is that his site will only be stocked for another week or two. When news got out...the rush was crazy, so go grab what you can now. We need more Tesla's in the world, and I expect a lot more A.C.M.E clones in the coming years. :)

Jim, for what ever reason is for closing your doors...
I'm sure is was something you thought on for a long time, and needs were worth much more than your kits.
If I may make a suggestion?...
Perhaps you can leave your web page up and offer up your plans in downloadable .pdf format.
At least we would be able to scratch build your designs and FlisKit's could live on in your memory.
From my family to yours, may you's enjoy life the way you want to, and be fulfilled and complete.
And poke yourself in on us once in a while and say HI so we know how your doing.
All the Best, Jim!

I've a aimed and never missed. good luck Jim. I'm going miss that cake, especially at your final anniversary launch this weekend.

I expect you at club launches with the grandkids launching for the first time their namesake rockets :)

Hey, I made 2 orders before its all gone. On each order my only option was 0$ air shipping. The site shows shipping prices based on purchase amount. Anyone else make an order last few days? Shipping free right now or I did something wrong?

Free domestic shipping for orders over $20.

Well, it's official. New announcement on the Fliskits website, no more orders being taken.

It appears that an interested party would like to continue his designs into the future. Hope it pans out. Once again, thanks for all the great kits, Jim. Best wishes for the future.:(

The demise of FlisKits is a sad day indeed, but speaks to the realities of our hobby- it's self-supported, and corporate conglomerates aren't interested in taking risks. Imagine if Estes tried to sell the Acme Spitfire- there would be zero sales, because, like modern art shows, many casual observers would say:
A) My KID could build that while doped up on dimetap and benedryl, missing the exact point of the kit.
B) No WAY that can fly, they're just being idiots and are trying to sell more motors.

This kit was, to me, my touchstone in the hobby- it was BY FAR the most challenging kit I've ever had the pleasure to build, and was the ONLY one that truly brought tears to my eyes when I had a failure that grounded it. This is only one example from many of the fleet of Jim's that were edgy, clever or both, and provided a stimulating build to the talented builder that was still rewarding to fly at the local park.

My hat is off to Jim, both for the risk he assumed when he started his own company, and for the recognition that he wasn't going to be able to go on, and maintain the high degree of satisfaction his own personal brand delivered and that he personally ascribed to. Glad am I that I was a BAR at the right time! Time to dust off the broken ACME Spitfire and attempt to restore it as a desk model, since I wouldn't want to risk flying what is now a true relic.

Closing was a decision long in the making. The two biggest factors were wanting to spend more quality time with out grand kids as well as starting a new Career chapter (I begin teaching on Monday). I’ll still be around though :). I’ve been a model rocketeer a LOT longer than I’ve been a rocket company owner...

On the plus side, we will be turning on a few “add to cart “ buttons on our web site this weekend, including a short run of our Saturn 1B kit...

The encore is on!!!! Head to Jim's site for a few favorites returning. While supplies last!!!

I've wanted to do some of those funky FLIS designs and never got around to them. Thinking I'd missed my chance I was pleased to read there are a few more available. Just ordered a Whatshamacallit and a Frick 'n' Frack.

Glad you were able to get an order in. Dont expect them to ship anytime soon tho. I made an order 2 weeks ago (Sep 16th when I heard about them closing), received an email last night saying they are finishing up the end of August orders. So I figure will be another 2 to 4 weeks before my orders from over 2 weeks ago ships. And its totally fine and understandable, I just hope they dont run out of parts before my orders are fulfilled. They have a few kits Im in love with so I had to order multiple backups of those sweet little gems!

I was quick to snap up the ACME Spitfire, 2 in fact, and the TESLA....got on last night and bought a SATURN 1B for a Christmas present for my son. So sad to hear about the mom n pops going under....they had/have the best kits, but were always a bit of a challenge, so I was apprehensive. I feel like the ACME is perfect for steampunking, but would feel like a copy of some of the others on here.

Previously, I snapped up a Space Shuttle from Dr. Zooch..so I have officially began stockpiling :D

just received my September order... The Mercury Redstone is a lot smaller then I realized, a pleasant surprise (easier to paint) and the Tesla looks challenging...

now the hard part, it has been decided that they will be a Christmas present for me, so I have to wait to build anything.

You are likely going to get one soon. My Saturn 1B was ordered Sept. 30th, and I just got confirmation a day or two ago.

Have not received such a notice for my October 1st order. I have faith.

I never did receive that shipping notice, but received the kits on Friday. I opened and very crudely dry fit them on Saturday evening. Will build - um - soon. (Lower priority than getting dozens and dozens of moving boxes unpacked and out.)

I have a Flisesque design in mind that I hope to build some time in the not too distant future as a tribute. At the moment, I haven't got a working computer to do the design and sim, let alone time to work on it. (My computer quit working a little before the movers arrived to pack it up. Now I have to get it unpacked and hope I can get it working, or get a new one, or get RS installed on someone else's, and all that is, yep, lower priority than unpacking boxes.)
