Some days a person doesn’t get to work on rockets. So what kept you from turning money into smoke today?

I am not a big drinker, but I enjoy whiskey and bourbon. Obviously you have a variety of cider- tell me about your whiskey.

Fermented from sweet sorghum grown in Elkhart Lake. Distilled by my wife. Aged with oak, apple, cherry, and chestnut. (Barrel first, then chips.) Comes out a bit like scotch without the peat. Bottled at 80 proof and Cask Strength. The batch pictured was 101.7 proof.

Charles, I would say for sure you didn't squander the time away for rockets

I worked today. But the 3.5 hours OT on this next check will take the sting out of buying my first K motor to try to send my Tyrannosaur a mile up tomorrow.

Never had homemade whiskey, I would love to try some of that whiskey. Is it legal to ship? :) I'm not near the drinker I used to be, but I will have a little whiskey and a cigar with my dad and brothers. Becoming a father changed me so much. I now make my own beer. Small batches for now til I get a few recipes down and more room. Actually went the easy way this time and used a Mr Beer kit because it was on sale.

Brown dog cask is wonderful and I’m out. Will you be around the weekend of the Tripoli launch in Sept.? I will try to stop by and get a bottle if you have stock and are open.

We’ll be open both days and have stock.

I’m going to try to fly, also, but Saturday is out busy day and Sunday a car show is on site.

Nothing so exciting as whiskey. The last few weeks I’ve been helping my wife deal with her uncle’s estate. Today and tomorrow are watching my daughter at a big youth sailing regatta. 100 boats and ~150 sailors out on the water at once.

AE3C0CB5-D7C6-473A-8175-1413B334E8A9.jpeg Thermal component design homework. You know that mathy sh*t us engineer majors do. Senior level class oh yeah you use all the equations they give you. And the prof still has a few more equations not shown or known.

It’s only got fluid mechanics, heat transfer, engineer economy, thermodynamics 1 ,and thermodynamics 2 and it’s not as fun as rockets. Because heat exchanger design in a system.

We had just about everything. Ages 7-13 were in Optimists (aka a brick with a sail). Older kids were mostly in Laser Radials and Flying Jr.s (my kid). Just for a little spice, there were 5-6 420s (with spinnaker) and 3 29ers. Yesterday had about a third of the fleet knocked down by a squall line toward the end of the day. Mother Nature added insult to injury by hailing on them while they were in the water. o_O

I had a Sabot (Optimist equivalent) when I was young, then moved onto my dad' Laser when I could 'right int' on my own. then we (dad & I) had an Albacore we raced every Tuesday & Thursday night & Sundays. I then teamed up with a friend & got a Fireball.. (Old 70's fiberlgass hull) last sailing was in Vancouver BC, where i did a crew stint on a fireball..

Haven't been out much since then, and that's pushing 20 yeas now.. Dad still sails, has a Mirage 24 now.. I kayak & fly fish!

I dug down to the surface of the winery desk. Mostly begging letters that went into the recycle. Clipped a couple of aroma chemistry articles.

Live to Hike... Hike to Live.

We drove up Weston Pass and did some hiking. Trees are turning early this year due to the drought.

Is chipmunk lofting a real competition category?

According to the TRA/NAR safety code*, only if you find a spineless one...

[* I can’t remember which one it was that specifies only allowing the launch of invertebrate animals...]

Nice! I mostly sailed Lasers in my misspent youth, and was pretty good at the dry capsize.

11k ft without a motor... [emoji33]

My record without a motor is 12,100' above sea level, and that was a pass.

Same here. I got pretty good at not getting wet. The adjacent yacht club, the girls at the sailing school would sail their laser to the top of the lake, capsize their lasers, then climb onto the center board & sun themselves as the capsized boat would drift downwind with them sprawled as girls do, on the centerboard. They would then right it, beat back to eth top of the lake & repeat..

My dad & I noticed that our Albacore always did better on one tack than the other. One winter, he pulled the center board out & did some measurements. Yup, it was cupped.. Over the winter he made some NACA profiles / templates for the board, and shaped the center board to the proper class (NACA) profile!

I can't ever remember either, so I just say The Safety Code and try to look real confident :)

We hiked to 12,208. We do that quite often here.

Saw this fella near the summit, he said his exoskeleton qualifies him for "X-Wing Service". Or maybe TI fighter based on the helmet
