Next up on my build pile... 131C9E61-5BCA-4E80-B2CC-88BAFBD0151B.jpg

Anyone have a recommendation for a rattle can color to match the face card?

I’ve looked at the selection of krylon, at Home Depot and as you guys know the color almost always lays down different than the cap...

I’ve always been a fan of the old school Commanche colors and think it’s a good contrast with the decals... really looking for something that will pop the decals but not come out looking like a traffic cone

My pleasure. Fun rocket. Just be sure the couplers are not too tight.

Yeah I’ve got one of the full size Comanches, have yet to launch the full stack though until I can make it out to a section launch. That one was done in the newer yellow scheme. Looks alright but a much bigger fan of the old school scheme as it has an almost military look.

Stumbled across the mini on AC supply and figured I could get away with that on my regular field (soccer complex) I fly to about 1000 feet out there without too much trouble. Looking forward to getting this in the air I’m sure my son will get a kick out of the staging

Could you do me a big favor? I was wondering how long the nose cone is on the Mini Comanche. Could you take a measurement for me?

Thanks,
-Bob

Sure thing Bob, I’m at the office now but more than happy to do so when I get home, since I was planning to scan the decals for backup anyway I’ll get those up too

That is awesome! Thank you so much.

Glad to help, I’ll get to it after the kids go to bed later, was going to pull the kit out and dry fit everything, inspect the tubes and what not anyway.

I’ve got a lot of help here on TRF and happy to pay it forward whenever possible

Dave

The Mini-Commanche-3 uses the PNC-20A, the same nose cone used in the Viking, Wizard and many other Estes BT-20 based kits.

Thank so much. Now I can get started in open rocket. I ordered one and am going to use it to build three sport scale models. I need to get two more nose cones or I may just try making my own on the drill press. The total of the parts is cheaper than buying individually with the extra shipping charges, etc. We have no lical hobby shop here.

Thanks again, Bob

I built my Mini Manchie-3 many years before Estes decided to kit it. Mine is all 13mm tubing flying on A10-0T, A3-0T, A3-6T. Almost lost the sustainer which drifted on a 1" x 30" streamer more then a mile.
