The next launch in Berwick will be on Saturday, 25 August. This has been postponed from the 18th of August. Keep an eye on this thread, the club website and Facebook page to get the latest information. Let's hope for better weather so we can actually fly this month.

Set up starts at 9:30 AM and flying as soon as we're set up. Come early and get trained on setting up the range so we can all start flying earlier. Our flying day will end at 4 PM. Breaking down the range and packing up the trailer is a big part of making for a good day, too, so stick around an learn how to get things ready for the next launch.

If you want to help out with food service, get a hold of Scott to coordinate efforts.

The folks from AMWProX will not be on the field. Robert and Gloria will be on the road for the rest of our flying season and Jason is doing lots of work on his recently purchased house. We will look to put together a group order when Gloria gives us a schedule we can work to; a group order will save us from having to pay individual HAZMAT fees and may get them waived entirely with a big enough order. If someone wants to be the coordinator for this group purchase, reply to this thread and we'll see what we can do. Payments will be made directly to AMWProX so you'd only have to receive the shipment and distribute the motors at a launch or some other gathering. This will be posted on the CMASS website, too, so we should get plenty of motors.

Is there anyone who is looking to do a Level 1 or 2 certification at the Launch? If so, please do not wait until the last minute. You need time to go through safety check and set up on the pad. Time runs out quickly if you are not the only one rushing to cert at the end of the day. Also, make sure you have proof of current NAR membership and your paper work ready to go. If you are certifying under Tripoli, please make sure someone at the launch is authorized to be your witness.

Do you expect to need the 1515-rail pad setup? Let us know ahead of time and try to be there to help set it up so you are familiar with how to work it. The same goes for the other high power pads; the more people we can teach set up and break down the range, the quicker we can get flying in the morning and the earlier we can get to the all important debriefing sessions after the launch.

All of the usual rules apply:
  • Stay on the roadways - no wheels on the grass; keep an eye out for Scott who will show you where to park and set up
  • No sparky motors
  • If you haven't done it yet, have your 38mm CTI motors checked for the proper delay grain (if we don't have a vendor on the field, don't fly a CTI 38mm unless you know you've made the upgrade)
  • Any rocket using a CTI VMax motor and an active recovery system must not rely on the motor's ejection charge for a safe recovery; it must have electronic deployment for all of its events.
  • Positive motor retention especially for composite motors - this includes the Quest Q-Jet motors
  • Have your NAR (or TRA) card with you showing your cert level if you're going to fly HPR
  • If the winds aloft are doing much of anything, don't overfly the conditions
  • All the usual stuff in the NAR Safety Code, too.

I can help coordinate an order and distribution.

I am planning on the 18th, so will come early to set up the away cell (and anything else). Austin plans to launch a "K", and I plan to launch the Upscale Deuce again.

Thank you, Curtis, for stepping up to help with the motors.

I got a call from Gloria today and they are going to be around Massachusetts for another couple of weeks before they start their long trip. They will be out at MARS the day of our launch but Curtis will be picking up an order Friday the 10th of August. If you know of a motor or kit or parts you want, order it on the AMWProX website today or early on the 10th and it will be with the order Curtis picks up. If you think of anything you need after that, get an order into Gloria by Wednesday the 15th and I can pick it up at their house before the Berwick launch and get it up there.

In either case, if you do order anything, post something on this thread so we know there is some activity and items to pick up.

A friend and I from upstate are hoping to go for L1 certification at this event. Hope to see you there.

We're currently working out the kinks and I'm not sure if we can make an order with AMW by tomorrow but I'll see if I can pull some strings.

Welcome to the forum, @TristanU . We look forward to your certification attempt. Make sure to review the NAR website to be sure you have everything ready (membership card, forms, etc.) before you travel down. As stated before, you can order your L1 cert motor from AMWProX up until Wednesday night and it can be delivered to the field on the launch day.

Actually, I'll be picking up 3PM on Sat the 11th. I'll be happy to courier anyone's orders to the launch. They will probably need some time to process orders. Curtis

RIMRA is rained out this weekend. If you live in the Northeast and you want to launch this month, it looks like this launch in Berwick next weekend is your best bet.

Keeping an eye on the weather forecast and have fingers crossed.

Plan to launch the Upscale Deuce. I can help set up the infinity pad.

Kenn, I know CMASS has a mini rail. Does MMMSC?

I have one but it’s just the rail itself. I haven’t added any kind of appendage to insert it into a pad or make any kind of blast deflector for it.

Not sure what's in the trailer. Bring yours along and we can rig something up with one of the jawstands.

I actually just finished cleaning and repainting the CMASS (short and long) mini rails. I will bring them along.

Guy.

Sorry to announce that the weather is not cooperating again. Thunderstorms could happen mid- to late in our scheduled time with low clouds the whole day. We'll postpone this launch to the 25th of August - the extended forecast looks better for that day.

Do we know if amw will be able to come on he 25th?
I doubt it. That's the day they're taking off for their long sojourn. They are in town until then so if you need anything, contact them and order it; if you can't pick it up, I'll pick up whatever is ordered by next Wednesday from Gloria and bring it to the field.

I just read the update and won’t be able to make it next week. So no need for the mini rail but thanks. Maybe I’ll spend Saturday working up a mounting solution for my personal pad. Probably just copy how it was done on my 1010 so I can use the same blast deflector.

I ordered a 1 grain 29mm casing that is already paid for. I emailed Robert asking if he could give it to Kenn B who can in turn give it to me at the August 25th launch.

Remember, if you're going to order anything from AMWProX, call Robert by Thursday and arrange payment with him. I'll pick up whatever has been ordered and bring it to the field.

Also, with the change of date, we are looking for anyone who wants to take care of grilling some hot dogs and possibly burgers around noontime. If you're interested, check with Scott.

I'll be needing the 15/15 rail for this Saturday's launch. I'll be launching my HyperLoc 1600. It will be its maiden launch on a CTI K360 Classic, with a predicted altitude of 3000 ft.

Yes, that is Katy and no I am not a granddad yet! That's Avery, one of my nieces' boys.

See you all Saturday.

Wildman CT, Rick, will be on the field with his trailer of supplies.

I'll still be picking up any orders placed with AMWProX by Thursday night.

Between the two, you shouldn't have any excuse for not having a motor to fly.

I'll be there, and with a trailer full of aerotech and CTI thru 75 mm.
Just for fun, let's do a kit sale...everyone can use a wildman kit. The sale will be for all the WM kits I have in Maine.....

I'll be flying from the 1515 rail as well. An L995 to 4500 feet or so.

Unfortunately I won't be at the field until 1030 or 11 due to childcare constraints, but looking like it'll be a great day!

Safe to assume we will be launching from the near side by the trees again?

Scott will be there to direct traffic. The wind looks like that would be a good spot but it will depend on what's planted and harvested and where the center-pivot irrigation is if it's operating. You may still get there in time to help with the 1515 pad set up.

Hey folks, great launch yesterday! I lost a 4' 38mm black rocket with an orange and black parachute about 350 feet in the woods to the left off the access road to the field. I know the exact gps coords of the landing (they didn't change over the course of an hour and I was getting a steady stream of pings from it), but my phone couldn't get a good gps lock in the dense woods so I couldn't tell exactly where I was even though I knew the coords of the rocket. If anyone is in the woods over there with a good GPS unit, keep an eye out for a black rocket with an orange and black parachute. Exact GPS coords are: 43.316070, -70.899050

Of course it's probably at the top of a tree...

Anyhow, if anyone does find it I'd be happy to offer $100 reward! Otherwise I'll probably go looking again once the leaves fall. It's fiberglass so it'll survive the elements.
