Yes, I'm in the begining stages of building a Mach-2 rocket............. 2 stage rocket.. or 2 of them stacked depending on how you look at it....LOL
I plan on a build thread soon.[as get over this darn flu]

How high would it go on a L1000? It says on the website it will break mach 2 on a L1000, but doesn't say anything about altitude.
Ben

This thread caught my eye because I ordered one on Black Saturday and have been thinking about the build. It will be my first MD and first head-end rocket, so I'll have some new techniques to learn. Definitely looking forward to CJ's kit bash thread.

Anyone else still waiting for BS deliveries? I didn't order motors, just a couple of kits and a few other things. I know I could call up Tim and ask, but it's more fun to hang out here and I don't have time to start the build anyway. Or builds, actually. The Mach 2 was a last minute impulse click, after the Falcon 3 was already in the cart. :)

You guys are serious? $90 for the rocket that goes Mach2 and 23,000 feet?

I spoke with them yesterday and was told their fiberglass supplier was behind due to some other large contract taking all of their product. Tim was apparently at the manufacturer yesterday trying to get them to get his materials delivered.

Anyone have any experience/pictures of this rocket. Year has been busy just thinking of a quick straight forward build. Anyone upscale it to 3 inch min dia?

Here is mine, unpacked:

Also enclosed is a .rkt and .ork files I build based on the actual dimensions (slightly different then those listed on WM site).

It is already a minimal diameter 54mm (2.65") rocket.
3"/75mm would be another rocket altogether.

On AT L1000, it sims out to 21.7K feet and 2,707 fps (Mach 2.4).

P.S.: post edited to fix sim bugs

Thanks for the photo. Out of curiosity are your fins bevelled on the trailing edge? The photo CJ shared did have training edge bevelling but the photo you provided above it doesn't seem your fins received the same treatment.

CJ calls out the fin beveling in his thread... "PLEASE bear in mind...FINS do not come beveled like these!"

Thanks Keisling and apologies for missing that!

Edit: actually, I'll retract that apology. CJ posted that AFTER I asked the question! :D
Edit2: maybe not, but I missed his new thread on the rocket. Regardless, I've ordered one. I needed some braided kevlar anyway and the price is just too good. Looking back at my records it's the first kit I've ordered since June 2015!

I'd go as far as to say no rocket needs bevelled fins; but to get the more speed and altitude out of any given vehicle you'll have better results with bevelled leading and trailing edges.

Strangely, the fins are beveled only on the leading edges.
See (phone camera quality) closeups below:

Not sure if it's just my kit, or if they are all shipped this way.

One more time, they all come beveled on just LEADING edge.....do NOT contact Wildman asking/bitch'n about only leading edge beveling.

I did BOTH on mine AFTER I got the kit.

No reflection on you afadeev, I just want to clear this up for anyone looking.

Fer chissakes people, a simple wedge is perfectly fine for a project like this so chill.
23k? One better check their nearby waivers and stick a Tracker of some kind in there. Kurt

afadeev, CJ cleared up the fact this kit ships with the leading edge beveled only, so I don't want to beat the dead horse.

With that being said, if you really want the trailing edge beveled, I can do that for you. PM me if interested.

On AT L1000, it sims out to 19K feet and 2,472 fps (Mach 2.2).

You must have different defaults, I got mach 2.1 (2380 ft/s) and 14k feet for my sim. Still quite impressive and within altitude restrictions in my area :)

I just checked that file from post 12...um it's wonky..only 3 fins way oversize and stability off the chart -3.06
Nose cone wrong. Not 4-1 [9in] should be 5-1 haack [13.25in]

Can't figure out why CG is BEHIND CP.... weight at 28oz is WAY off.

No wonder your sims are so far off. You should be getting around 23-24,000 as Justin mentioned.

I corrected it...added 4th fin etc. but the darn CG refuses to move.

Mine built, no gear installed weighs 4lb 10oz.

I'll just do another new file.

It might be worth checking whether one of the components has an override of weight or cg?
