Hello everyone,

I'm looking for someone or a club in central Indiana or Indianapolis area to mentor me into my level 1 etc..

I found a club on the NAR locator but have yet to meet anyone from the local club. I have been building and flying for years but have never until now wanted to pursue my certifications.

I have the basics down, including many LOC kits, and a few large fiberglass rockets. Everything is dual deploy except for a couple that I use a cable cutter on with KNSB motors and some EX APCP.

I've been a contractor in Afghanistan for years and am now home for good and looking to get going on certifications...but I need a club.

any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks guys
Chris

Hi Chris - there is Indiana Rocketry (Lafayette - launch at Purdy Sod farm) and ROCI they launch in Muncie at the AMA field

They are on Facebook too. Beautiful field, lot of L3's there for advice.

ROCI

There are some on here that would mentor you, I myself would be one (Greencastle) I'm sure I won't be the only one to answer as my mentor is on here as well as I don't want to speak for others, there are many great high power rocketeers on IN.

Based on your description you will breeze through L1 and by the sounds of it L2.
PM me and I'll give you my cell and some names.

Hi Chris

The AMOREA club just held it's monthly launch yesterday! We typically launch the third Sunday of the month, from a smallish field near the Lawrence soccer complex in the Fort Ben Harrison area (just south of 56th street between Franklin and Post road).

We fly mostly LPR, due to field size, but sometimes go up to F motors (we launched one yesterday!).

For HPR I think the nearest would be the ROCI group. I haven't attended one of their launches but would like to!

I'm not aware of other clubs in the area but also interested to learn so will follow this thread!

Thank you guys! I live less than 5 minutes from Fort Ben.

Hope to see you for some low to mid power action on Aug 20 then. There is a Facebook group for AMOREA (A Method Of Reaching Extreme Altitudes) and also a Yahoo group. I don't do Facebook but I can also get you in touch with the club organizers. Pm me an email address. :)

Good to hear! Hope to attend someday.
If u attend an ROCI launch soneday,
ROCI field is a great facility dedicated area to RC plans etc. park setting K motor limit I believe, great people as well

Another option is my NAR chapter: Launch Crue at Holland Indiana. Just head south on 231 to I64 and drive west to Holland. We usually meet on the second Sunday of the month, although August is our picnic and will be all day on that saturday. Most of the year we have a decent waiver for our launches, and our field can support flights up to about a K motor (I think they have launched an L there once or twice, though). We have a number of members who have at least Cert 2 and all are friendly and willing to offer tips, advice and help to get your level one. We welcome all!
