After the putting so much effort into faking the moon landings, Kubrick realised that Apollo 12 was nothing more than a 'repeat' episode. Therefore "Moon Landing the Third" needed something punchy to get the audiences back... and with the number 13.... yeah it had to be done

This explains apollo 8. Never knew why they'd fly all the way there for nothing. Turns out Kubrick just fired the actors halfway into filming and started over.

They were all stunt doubles. Thats why they used government test pilots. They were simply detailed and didn't even get extra pay. Didn't you see the invoice where Buzz aldrin only got $38 reimbursement to fly to moon to act in this farce?
