I'm in Iowa, Dubuque to be precise. The brewery is in planning 😄 but will German, Belgian and Irish monastery styles...too long to say why!

It's a Minuteman II launched out of Vandenberg AFB on a test launch. I was a space and missile officer in the USAF. 21 years, retired in 2006. Didn't launch that one but did launch a Gryphon (USAF version of Tomahawk called a GLCM) at Dugway in Utah in 85. My big missile time was at Whiteman in MM II. Then a few other various space tours.

Let's see. I have an Estes V-2, Estes Merc Redstone, Madcow Mozzie, LOC Aura and five others in build or ready for paint. Beer brewing has consumed my life presently so I haven't had much time for Rockets (unfortunately). Last launch was in Jan 2016. Going to change that soon

I recently started home brewing myself. Only one batch so far. Before I got into that I thought I would like to have a brew house. Then I researched it and decided to just home brew a bit. And I am talking about the Mr Beer kits where all the hard work is already done. Lol. Good luck!

I'm lucky that the launch area at Bong is 1 mile straight south of my cidery/distillery. It means that I'm allowed to sneak out for a couple of hours on launch days - providing we aren't bottling.

If I launched a rocket your way with some money taped to the side of it, could you launch it back with a bottle of something in the payload bay? Kinda like the pneumatic tubes at the bank, but way cooler.

I've done beer and wine at home. I felt like it was one of those cool things that I should at least try out. I don't have the passion to support the time and effort though. I'm all for people doing it, and you know they always have to share it with their friends...that's what I'm talking about.

A ripens/coworker started Belgian Underground Brewing a couple years ago. They are doing pretty well, here in Oregon there seems to be an unlimited demand for microbrews.

I knew that coastline was familiar! The job may send me to VAFB in the next few months to a year.

Didn't a farmer in Idaho start of a distillery making Vodka from unusable food grade waste?
The name escapes me at the moment, but I seen it on the History channel year or two back.
I remember checking for it at the liquor store a while back and it was kinda a premium priced commodity and passed for Jameson's.

Good to have you back Mike- I was one of those pesky MMT techs, an MHT'r and, also Job Controller for many years before i found out that driving a Semi Truck paid FOUR times what i was making as an Air Force Sergeant. I know every nut, bolt and, wire in the Minuteman 3 system. What a neat and, effective little toy that is...

I think those kinds of things should be in a display case on the wall, mantel or shelf.
But that's just me. My dad refused to even talk about his time in the service.
Understandably though, he was a Marine in WWII.
I'm sure he just wanted to forget.

Thanks Gus! Loved our MNX guys! Kept the LCC and LFs humming. In GLCM, I remember our maintainer teaching me what FM meant. When I ask him how blowing on a circuit card fixed our launch computer, he said, "Its FM, LT.". I said"what's FM?" He said F@&$ing Magic!" I never laughed so hard as a 21 year old butter bar....

That was my first missile badge, then got the ops designator. Then finally a set of Spings - Space Wings. Believe me, I much rather have a Pocket Rocket!

And the gang workin on the MM III now are 30 years younger than the weapon system!

Mr. Beer is a good start. I'm all-grain now, electric brewery in my basement. No more cold days with propane! Once the bug bit me, I had to turn pro!

It has turned into my passion. My kids give me grief for it. But it opened up a world of beer I never knew existed.

It is kinda like model rocketry. We like to experiment, change a kit by kit bashing. Brewing is similar. I always like to push the envelope a bit. Rheinheitsgebot? Who needs a pesky dust covered German beer purity law? If I want to add blood orange to my Hefeweizen, by God I will (and I do...always on tap). If I want an Imperial Pilsner, I'll make it. Because I'm a craft brewer! (Cue impressive soundtrack)

Okay, my kids are right....I'm obsessed with brewing.
