That cutting isn't super safe. It's not a great experiment anyway, as the seal to the plexi is garbage and it turns into a zero-delay side burner.

One really gets the idea of how that propellant burns inside. I never new it burnt up that fast and pressurized all at once like that. I can see how CATO's can happen threw the side now, and out the top.
And one can get the idea of how much fire is actually deployed at ejection and why protection is so vital.
I found it quite fascinating!

That's my non-safety objection to this vid. A BP motor does -not- burn this way, it burns from the lit end like a very angry cigarette.

Looks like he didn't film the actual cutting in case something....unfortunate happened.

What to do about that seal though? JB-weld or some other high-heat epoxy?

The premise of the experiment is sound, but I think its 'safe' to say he hasn't read the model safety code in awhile

Exactly. Much better videos can be found here showing how a sucrose/KNO3 Bates grain burns within an intact clear PVC casing. It would be interesting to see this demonstration repeated only with an end burning, black powder grain. Running a black powder slug through a table saw is a recipe for disaster and I doubt the filmmaker knew what he was cutting.

Post script: Yesterday when I changed the saw blade on my table saw, I inadvertently installed it backwards. I discovered my error when the 42" long 2 x 6 yellow pine board I was attempting to rip began churning out copious amounts of smoke so it was hot enough to ignite wood. No damage to the blade...only my ego. DOY!
