Hello getting ready to glass some tube soon and has any one used this . Is it worth getting or just glass the regular way

I did not feel like reading through a bunch of threads on a search, however I will share my two experiences with Easy Glass

  • It soaks up a truckload of resin. Resin adds little strength in itself so it potentially adds far more weight than strength to the composite.
  • It has a very coarse weave and required a bunch of filling.

Thank you . I saw 16 threads . But yes will go for a fiber glass sleeves to do this . Don't think the sock can handle a M

That's Good just the sleeves was 200.00 for the project . And the eazyglas maybe less weight

Easy glass will most likely be considerably heavier. It is a coarse weave, very absorbent, and does not seem to vacuum bag very well.

I use drain sleeves (same as easyglas) to reinforce centering rings. I'll second that it does soak up tons of resin. It's cheap, so I use it for structural components, but the weight has too many downsides for putting on the tube. I stick to fiberglass there. It doesn't add quite as much strength as a couple wraps of 6 oz. fiberglass cloth.

FYI. You can buy a 4" x 100' drain sleeve for about $30. Same stuff.

I'm using an 8" x 100' pack for my 8" plywood rings.

I think that cost me about $35.

Well I have two projects in mind a 4 inch that will need to make heavy and a 10 inch scratch build that will need to keep weight off the fork in the road
