For what it's worth. The Winter forecast from Channel 4 in DC is colder than average December and January, warmer than average February and average to slightly above average snow fall.

That actually sounds OK. It really is all about the timing. Last year we seemed to get rain on Thursday or Friday and it left the field a muddy mess and we cancelled or postponed most launches. A little colder and snow instead of rain my actually work out better.

I missed the last launch because of the high winds on Sunday but have the December launch on the Calendar. I'm currently debating whether to attempt level 2 certification using the same DX3 that I used for my level 1 flight or build something else. If I decide to use the DX3, I may make the attempt next week. ( Assuming of course that I can pass the written test...)

Where's the launch next week?

Jeff and I have been talking about a drag race. So let's do it on Saturday at 1 pm.

Rules - first off the pad wins. Single commercial or research K class motor.

Any takers besides Jeff and I.

Ben

Last time I shot a K it was 70ft in the trees! :) I might be in if motors are available. Will check. Ken or Kevin coming?

As a lowly level 1, I can't participate in the race. But, I'll see if I can get the high speed camera (with a better lens) to record the winner...

Kevin will be there. We are talking to Ken about stopping by Saturday morning to drop off pre-orders. Suggest checking with Ken and Kevin.

Ben

Ordered a K500. Hope the winds are in our favor. If I split the distance between the Pines and the cows....I should be landing pretty.

Did you order it from Kevin? or Ken? I emailed Ken and asked if he would stop by on the 10 for pre-orders but I haven't heard from him. If he is going to show up and will take pre-orders I was going to post the same on the website.

Ordered from kevin. I had emailed Ken as well and haven't heard back. I was thinking the same, but then I could find a few on Kevin's site (cesaroni) that Ken was out of stock.

Get your pre-orders in to Kevin and Ken. I'll confirm, but I believe Kevin will be on site the whole weekend. Ken is stopping by from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM Saturday morning to drop off pre-orders.

When I emailed Kevin 4 days ago he said that he plans to be there either Saturday or Sunday, whichever day has the best weather forecast.

I ordered some CTI reloads but a lot of the 54mm and 75mm reloads are getting pretty hard to find. If Cesaroni doesn't start producing more soon I'm going to either have to buy some other motor hardware or stop flying my big rockets.

I don't think I'll be able to make it to Battlepark by 9:15. Is anyone already planning to be there to meet Ken? Would you be willing to receive an order for me?

Yeah. When I got started, I ultimately made the decision to go CTI and bought two sets that basically allow me to fly any 38 or 54 motor. Increasingly it IS difficult to find reloads. To that end, only Kevin had a few I was looking for for the upcoming weekend; but if he decides to come sunday vs Saturday, I'm done. I've got nothing to fly without the motors so will have to bag the weekend. Fingers cross he shows Saturday and the weather holds. Sunday is a no go.

Sounds to me like you need to have some back up projects - ones that use an assortment of smaller cluster/2 stage motors.:)

Well I planned to be better prepared and ordered an Aerotech combo 54mm set for BF. The only thing I ordered due to price. Got an email today they were sold out, so got the refund. Nice I got that, but now I still have a Tomach I cannot fly (i bought last black friday) and still stuck with CTI loads for now. bummer.

I've got 54/1280 and 54/1706 AT hardware if you want to borrow that.
