It's that time of year again folks!

We're planning another "Cyber Monday Sale". Mark your paper calendars, set reminders in your calendar apps, Outlook clients, etc. This will be the 3rd year in a row that we'll run this 12 hour sales frenzy. For everyone's edification, here's the way we play on Cyber Monday:

- The web store will close at 6PM Sunday 11/27 so we can prep the shopping cart for the sale.
- All inventory stock limits will be "suspended" on sale items so everyone has an opportunity for purchase.
- We'll follow up with fulfillment's as soon we can beginning the week of 12/5/2016.
- If we can't fulfill your order with "on-hand" stock, please bear with us while we fabricate or procure your order items.
- Orders are fulfilled in the order they are received, so the "early" shoppers get to be first in line.
- The web store opens promptly at 9AM 11/28/16 Mountain Standard Time and closes again at 9PM that same day.

As mentioned, I'll be away on biz travel ALL Week (and thru the weekend), so PLEASE forgive lag replies to emails. I'll try my best to stay on top of the pile, so I'm asking for everyone's understanding up front... unfortunately I don't control the day-job calendar, thus when duty calls I must answer.

If you're wondering about the release of the RTx/GPS System for this sale, the answer is YES... We'll be scrambling this week and next to get as much stuff pre-ordered, pre-built, and ready for fulfillment so we can be as prepared as much as possible for the sale.

I'll also be updating this thread with sale info as we approach the sale. The close of our fiscal year this past September was our 18th year of operations...
Thanks AGAIN to EVERYONE for your continued support of Missile Works.

Jim- Thanks so much for thjs sale and your past support of our club(s). FWIW-The Missileworks T-shirt is the most comfortable one you'll own. Try one yourself and you'll be surprised.

Jim, can I use my $250 in credit from last year's sale be used to purchase the RTx/GPS system this year?

Hi Tim -

If you're ready for your system, I'll build it for you. Your existing credit will apply towards whichever system version you'd like. If you opted to purchase additional rocket units or additional complete systems during the sale, those purchases would be subject to this sale's purchase discount and not apply to your pre-purchased system from last year.

Yeah good. Otherwise it would be kind of "double dipping", huh... I'll wait until the sale and we'll combine everything.

The RRC2+ is a barometric dual-deploy altimeter, with a feature set for beginners and experts alike. The unit is extremely small and very easy to install and operate. It's programmed using a very straightforward DIP switch configuration method. No User Manual or documentation is required on the field, as all the switch settings are printed right on the altimeter itself. The RRC2+ epitomizes the "buy it and fly it" altimeter, with a price point that your rocketry budget will appreciate as well.

Whoa... I'll buy the one I need and maybe several for when I might need them later... LoL!

Great sale, Jim!!

And I also wanted to report back with 2 more flawless flights with the GPS system flown at Midwest Power. This is a simple system and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a GPS unit.

I will second that statement! I am going to buy a second unit!

What inquiring minds want to know is the expected price of the full tilt RTX system going to be come Cyber Monday, and price of RRC3? Limited budget, and frankly Cyber Monday is late to the party, so need to figure out plan of attack.

Yes, Cyber Monday comes after the Black Friday/Weekend sales and I realize that it's "late to the party"... I chose this intentionally so as to not have a sales day on the same days as other vendors. I've yet to set a sales price, but figure an ~ 10% discount + Free Shipping. I hope that helps with your "attack" plan.

Thanks, Tub... I appreciate all your testing efforts as well.

He who flies "straight up and down"... Thanks for all the test flights, Tim.
You have set the high bar when it comes to RTx test flights.

Jim , that helps so I, and I am sure others, can plan accordingly.

The Rocket Recovery Controller 3 (RRC3) is a barometric dual-deploy altimeter, with the features of high-end units, at the cost of those with a more modest feature set. In addition to basic dual-deploy capability, the RRC3 is a multi-flight recording unit, allowing you to fly all day, without the need to stop and download data in between flights. The RRC3 also provides a third, highly flexible and programmable 'Auxiliary' output which can provide staging, airstarts, backup events, and a host of other applications. The RRC3 can also support real-time data streaming capabilities in flight for telemetry or for interface with other custom control systems. Despite this unrivaled suite of intrinsic capabilities and expandability, the RRC3 still maintains its simple "buy it and fly it" operations.

It's Official!

I just confirmed this with the great one, and we're going to be offering all of our "fantastic plastic" at a 10% off price. We'll lift all of the inventory restrictions during the sale for unlimited quantities so you can stock up on all the Missile Works av-bays and other goodies you know you're gonna need.

Yep. I'll be there. Excellent price on the RRC3 and I have to try on of the modular sleds.

You will not go back, they are near perfect, except in very specific cases.

That's good to hear.

I love designing my own sleds and bays and such. But sometimes I just take a breath through clenched teeth - fed up with drilling, tapping, sanding or a missed measurement and odd placed hole. It'll be nice to use things that are made to work together. So a couple are definitely on my list - if I can stay away from MAC Performance build threads. Those birds look awesome.

I'll take the eggfinder...just sayin'...LOL (that will give me three to crash).

To each his own Dave but I did just what Matt said and I'm VERY happy I did. I'm going back for another Tx this year.

After months of beta testing and evaluations, we're finally going to "launch" the official product release for the RTx/GPS system. My thanks goes out to everyone who participated in testing. Your collective efforts are greatly appreciated.

Please note that if you're still sitting on your system "pre-purchase" deposit from last year, we are ready to complete and deliver your final system purchase. Just email to confirm your system configuration, and we'll work on fund balances, fabricating and fulfillment.

Ummmm, I don't have an RTx/GPS system but there are inherent differences between it and an EF. Mr. Amos offering has a larger footprint but puts out more power 250mW vs. 100mW. It also has onboard memory to store the flight positions.
I'd expect TRA might give consideration to its use for record attempts if an appropriate petition is made. The Eggfinder and TRS have no such capability.
I've done 14 APRS flights with Beeline GPS trackers and 6 EggFinder/TRS flights but nothing above 9k. Only lost one BeelineGPS tracker with an apogee deployment failure and ballistic descent. Got the parts back 18 months later. All totally sight unseen
BeelineAPRS flights were recovered and tracked well on mapping software in real time. The good news about the Eggfinders was I didn't lose any rockets including one that CATO's and the tracker survived with another going totally ballistic. The one or two positions received led to the recovery of the rocket remains. The rocket was dug out and since it was 'glass, replaced the nosecone and it still flies today.

Observations of the EggFinder flights are one will not receive and decode "every single" position that is transmitted even with a good GPS lock. Enough of the positions come through to affect a recovery especially when the main deploys and the rocket
is in a slower descent. If completely sight unseen, one will be able to get within the ground footprint of the tracker and recover the rocket. The reason for this with the EggFinder is multi factor and some reasons are power output, antenna system and the orientation of a tumbling rocket and resulting Rf signal polarity. My last two EggFinder flights I performed with a patch receiving antenna on a 10 foot pole. On a 5000' flight I was able to track on a map and had better decoding of the incoming positions
though it wasn't 100%. I was able to keep the antenna pointed at the sight unseen rocket for the duration of the flight by referring to my mapping software. The chute fouled after the Jolly Logic chute release deployed so we never saw the rocket. The
patch antenna still had a lock even after it was obvious the rocket had landed. I switched antennas as the patch on a pole is hard to carry out there:

antennastick.jpg

The rocket was a Madcow/RW 38 Special MD that survived the tumble recovery. Chute was partially deployed and the harness was completely out.

Ok, here is the bottom line from this discourse: If one desires more recovery of Rf transmitted positions, with 250mW output the RTx/GPS is at a distinct advantage. If one wants to be able to download a more complete record
of the positions and altitude again the RTx/GPS has a better edge with the onboard storage. Also the RTx/GPS is a turnkey solution one doesn't have to build. Some of the early 900Mhz solutions of years ago, even before the Beeline 900Mhz tracker were
$1000-$1500 cost.

If one is on a shoestring budget, needs a small footprint, doesn't mind building or have someone build their devices the EF stuff would be their only choice. Again, especially if they are on a shoestring budget.
If one wants a bit of an edge on something that's going to go far the next step above is the RTx/GPS.

Where does the Beeline GPS 900Mhz fit in? It's a turnkey tracker with a different footprint, 250mW. It has a place if someone has a size constraint that fits it.

In my view all these GPS trackers are complementary and some fit in better to different flying situations. Going really stupid high and stupid fast? Multitronix is really the only choice for the 900Mhz range. With one watt output
and optimization it should have the best range and decoding of anything in the 900Mhz range. Even then, I viewed a recent video that was trained on the receiver of a Multitronix and I could tell there was a decent refresh rate on the screen but there were times when there was a delay or dropped positions occurred. Bottom line is when these devices are functioning well, ones chances of rocket recovery increases significantly. Kurt

Jim,

Your web store page shows the 54MM sled as currently out of stock. Will I be able to order one with an altimeter tomorrow?

Yes, we are lifting all inventory limits and we'll be "printing to order" and "building for fulfilling".
We'll start Cyber Monday fulfillment beginning the week of December 5th when I return back home.
