This 42" rocket reached a great altitude using a Estes F-19 motor.
Parachute opened perfectly and landed with grace.

Not glass but a plastic champagne glass with the stem cut off and filed down smooth. It's a really easy and inexpensive way to get a nose cone. And I usually paint it, but this time I placed a blinking LED inside. Looks pretty cool ON takeoff and helps me see the rocket after chute opens.

My wife found them at a store called Party city in NJ.
But I've seen them at various dollar stores. Not all year, but now that New Years is around the corner. There's a good chance to find them soon. Stock up. They do crack if it takes a hard landing. Lol

You can find them at Dollar Tree or sometimes at Wal-Mart...especially around the holidays and NEW YEARS EVE!

Oh, it's probably already been said, or is quite obvious, but I built the kit that was called the "Hyper-Bat" about a year or two ago. Lots of fun, but a challenge to feather the leading edge of some of those curved fins, let me tell you. I remember my fingers being sanded raw!


(Also, note there were a few hick-ups in the printed instructions for the Hyper-Bat, that Estes is now aware of. At least one was an icon of a glue bottle that came loose and "floated" over to the wrong page, where it obscured some measurement. Also, the assembly of the motor mount into the first or second stage wasn't drawn quite correctly, but an experienced model rocket builder would see the problem and avoid it.
Estes said those problems would be corrected with the next reprinting of the instructions in FIVE Languages... as they expanded their international market.... I don't know if that ever happened yet. Anyone?)
