Hello. I'm in Broward and recently became interested in launching some model rockets, so I bought and built a few. I now learned that the only field within 50 miles of me that allows rockets, will only let me launch with the club, which is only once a month. Sounds fun but my work schedule wont allow that once a month (vista view club). Is there anyone south of Palm beach and north of Miami that knows of a field or lot that is available for launching without a set schedule so I can randomly launch? It's crazy how congested it is down here now. Thanks for any advice! If theres any other locals feel free to shout out!

Hi Alex.

Not sure that flying alone in random fields is a good idea.

You may want to check out FSA in West Palm, they fly at Dryer Park.

I am in Collier Co. and very active with low power, competition and HP. There was a club in Ft. Myers flying out of LA Belle. I do not know if they are still around.

If you can make a trip west of you, we can join forces and find a field.

Let me know if you are interested and pm me.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Asking to ask- why not ??

I fly alone all the time on low power stuff when I can find a place, mainly B thru E impulse only. Never had an issue if you use common sense.

I think the logic comes from "I got your back, you have mine". There's a lot of stuff that can happen very quickly that having a friend or fellow club member could be beneficial. Plus one of the things that landowners appreciate is the insurance that NAR/TRA provide for sanctioned launches in case of accidents to life or property. Setting someone's property on fire or damaging a home could cost a lot of money.

Good luck in your search. We lack a lot of club activity here in Georgia. I have to consider joining a club outside the state lines because of it.
