Rivet Question

I am building a Twitch Dual Deploy. I will be friction fitting the nose cone to the payload bay. The payload bay is anchored to the AV Bay with three large rivets.

Currently I am am planning to rely on friction fit to attach the booster section to the AV Bay? Do I need to use some small shear pins?

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions........

Friction fit is fine for your drogue bay, but for the main bay, I would use shear pins.

Tonimus do you mean between the nose cone and payload bay?

I have the payload bay riveted to the AV Bay but I sure hope they don't shear.

I use a small metal screw to attach the av bay to the payload bay. That is a little stronger than nylon screws/shear pins.

If you keep your main parachute (as most people do) between the AV bay and the nose cone, yes. I use shear pins to pin the nose to the payload so that the force of the payload hitting the end of the shock cord doesn't pop off the nose.

The foregoing is true and correct. Use of shear pins on the nosecone will help prevent premature deployment of the main chute.

You MAY, however, want to use some shear pins on the drogue bay, if it is a loose fit and there may be danger of a drag separation at motor burn out.
