Best 1010 rail source in GTA?

I'd like to try building my own pad with a 1010 rail. I've been looking around, maybe I'm not looking enough, but I can't seem to find a local source for a 6' 1010 rail beam.

I would prefer to pick up a rail beam locally(GTA) rather than have it shipped if at all possible. I can find them on the Acklands-Grainger site for I assume $20-$30?, but I have no idea how much shipping would be and if it would arrive intact...

Another option would be somewhere just across the border in Niagara Falls/Buffalo that I could stop by and pick one up??

Any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with Canadian suppliers but many of the chain suppliers in the US will transfer stock from one store to another without any additional shipping charges. I needed 24 1/8" rods for a large scout launch we were doing in New Hampshire; the Fastenal store I went to didn't have them but they could get them the next day from a sister store in Pennsylvania and I was only charged for the rods themselves.

If you haven't already talked to a person at the counter of your local Acklands-Grainger, I'd give that a try (I'm making the assumption that A-G is like Grainger in the States with physical stores scattered about).

Grainger in Cheektowaga NY can get them - not a stock item, so order ahead. You'd need to have an account to pickup in store.

Try Fastenal in your area, I picked up a 6' 1010 rail a few years ago at their store here in Edmonton. I see allrocketengines carries them also.

Whelp, Princess Auto doesn't have them. On the way back from my lunchtime excursion, I happened to drive past Acklands-Grainger...wha-hey! I wonder if I can order and pick up there? I would imagine it's not a place you can just walk in to like a store.

Generally your "company/organization" needs an account to buy things at Acklands-Grainger in Canada or Grainger in the US. I don't know what's involved in setting up an account - my company has an account (and I'm an authorized user!), so I can walk in and buy things for personal use.

FYI, I looked up my receipt from McMaster Carr and paid $19.79 for the 6 foot rail and $20 for shipping to NF, NY.

Since you are willing to pick up in Niagara Falls or Buffalo, consider what I did. I ordered from 8020 Inc. directly. I have a mail box outlet in WA that I can go to to pick stuff up. They only charge $3.00 per item. The same places must exist in Niagara Falls or Buffalo. The shipping costs for crossing the border were going to be excessive. It may be worthwhile to try to convince a few other locals to buy in so you can spread out the costs.

Anyway, that worked well for me. It was several years ago and I got 3x 1010 x 8ft plus 1x 2020 x 8 ft. I can't remember the costs or prices but I do remember it being straightforward to order from 8020. https://www.8020.net/

You can save some shipping if order it in 2 - 3' sections directly from 8020.
I sent them 3 different pads for a quote last year.
They ranged from #500 to almost $2000, not including shipping.
This stuff ain't cheap.

I have a ups box in Niagara Falls however I think I'll go through allrocketengines.ca $37CDN for a 6' section of 1010 rail. Apparently shipping is only about $11 or so. Cheapest option all things considered - with the current exchange rate the way it is.

Shipping anything significant to a hi-rise apt is challenging but Pavel has excellent customer service so I'm sure we'll figure something out.

Oh! I didn't know he carried those. Cool. I've ordered from them before and I've been very happy. 6 foot length is a good idea. I have a bit of a challenge transporting my 8 foot rails. I pretty much have to put them in my travel trailer. My truck has a 6.5 ft bed.

I don't know if this will be of much help but don't forget the 80/20 garage sale store on Ebay. You are able to contact them via phone. They are in Indiana.
