I am looking for the following:
  • 38mm Tru-Core Caps with 7/16" cores (10 vented and 10 non-vented)
  • 54mm Tru-Core Caps with 5/8" cores (5 vented and 5 non-vented)
  • Tru-Core or Fisher research motor hardware
    • 38mm 2, 3, and 4 grain cases with or without forward closures or nozzles
    • 54mm 2, 3, and 4 grain cases with or without forward closures or nozzles

Please PM with price if you want to sell.

Ed, if you have some stock left or can introduce me to the new owner that would work too.
Mike, I am sending you a PM about hardware.

In case you aren't aware, it is very easy to cast longer 38mm and 54mm grains and cut them into necessary lengths; thus reducing the quantity of caps needed. You can use a sharp, stiff knife on fresh grains and they cut readily. I use a square cut liner to score all the way around the casting tube and then slice on though while rotating the stick of propellant.

38mm are really easy. 54mm are easy. 76mm starts to get a little more difficult, but still do-able. 98mm is hard. Some people use a saw. I choose not to do that - the propellant flakes/dust make me nervous.

Good luck acquiring the desired caps. I really hope someone decides to fill this niche. Ed's products are great.

Caps are also easily and cheaply made out of a short piece of liner and a plywood or G10 disc.

I have kosdon 38 and 54 if interested.

Be aware that Tru-Core 38mm cases are 0.083" thick, 1.334" ID. Kosdon cases are 0.100" thick, 1.300" ID. Liners are not compatible between the two, so it makes sense for rocketeers to standardize their collection to one or the other.

Dan, thanks for the info on the Kosdon cases. I already have liners and casting tubes sized for Tru-core/Fisher/Loki sized casings and a few Loki 38mm case. I would generally like to keep diameters the same.

You aren't thinking of doing larger cases anytime soon?

Negative. Inventory cost is too high, time investment is too large (18 month old and another on the way), and one of these days I need to make myself some stuff on my lathe instead of things to sell. :)

Dang ! your 29mm cases look great!! But I dont fly smaller than 38mm :(

Dan, I didn't know. Thanks for the info. But must not include 54mm, because I can load Gorilla and PRO-x loads in my kosdon 54/2550.

I contacted Mike and he's making me sets of 2, 3 and 4 grain hardware in 38mm and 54mm. Was even kind enough to size the 38mm sets for 2.25" grains. Can't wait to get those cases in.

Is have a set of the 29mm by Dan. They are a worth every cent. I only have two flights and a test on them, but they worked perfectly.
