Hello All,

First time poster, long time gawker. My family first got into rocketry back in 1991 on good'ole estes rockets. It has over the many years evolved into much more then myself (or dad for that matter) could imagine. But after taking several years off (10) WE ARE BACK! After many months of acclimating back into the hobby learning all the new tech and remembering all the tricks and tips, my dad (some may know Dan "Airstart" DeHart) flow his heavily modified LOC Bruiser EXP. It has a central 75mm and four outboard 38mm, he flow it on a M1665WC then airstarted two CTI J354W @ 6sec, then two more CTI J290C @ 11sec, Apogee @ 8099'. I have attacked the link and video to the post for your viewing pleasure. We will be doing more like this and i'm sure it will once again lead us to LDRS, and Balls with large projects.

Great flight! Could you show me your setup for mounting the GoPro? I have one I'd like to mount.
 
Very nice. That was beautiful . I agree, downward facing or ground footage showing airstarts would've been awesome to see, but regardless, very nice.
 
I am currently researching Gopro options for a new vehicle I’m building. Any recommendations?

There is a new rocketry company (?? related to former owner of Binder design) that has a laser cutter constructed go pro camera shroud that facilitates sideways photo taking through a hole in the body tube. The laser cutter product is probably made of 1/8th or 1/4 inch plywood and looks well designed. Given the shape & size of the typical go pro, "downward picture taking" as done with a mobius is probably outside the possibility in a rocket under 5 inches in diameter. I tried finding the new rocketry manufacturer web site, but was unsuccessful. Probably several others will send you the web address.

If you happen to remember the link, post it. In addition to mounting the camera, I’m trying to figure out which Gopro would be the best for rocket applications in a 3” airframe?
 
Thanks dhbarr! Hey RFO-I only use the mobius for in flight video. I suggest that you contact "fusion rocketry (see above post)" and ask them about which go pro model they recommend. Their shroud should work well for your needs.

Does anyone know if Fusion Rocketry sells this Go-Pro mount separate from their fusion rocket kit? I'm not really interested in the rocket, but would love to purchase one or two of these mounts.

Our gopro mount should work on a 75mm with a little modification - and I can always cut you one to fit. The photo above was an early hand-cut prototype - the fit and finish is a lot nicer now... :) Send me a message and I'll fix you up....
 
Has anyone tore down a GoPro and remounted to allow a better forward or rear facing angle? I have used hackHD’s in the past for this reason. However, the GoPro technology has gotten way better than the hackhd so I would like to switch.
