Hi I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself. I'm Josh and I'm not completely new to this...

I was first introduced to Rocketry at a young age while at summer camp. They had a great Rocketry program where you could spend the week building and painting your own custom rocket and then launch it at the end of the week. My first launch was a success although the same can't be said for my rockets paint job. lol

Soon after I started building kits with my dad and would bring them to camp for launches. The most memorable being my SR-71 Blackbird. It's first launch was a success from what I heard...I had dropped the rocket off but wasn't actually at camp the day of the launch. I made sure I was present for the next weeks launch. I was ready to watch my blackbird soar...well that's not quite how it ended up. It launched maybe 15-20 feet in the air with an exceptionally large flame coming from the BT and headed straight for the ground in a ball of fire. My blackbird was toast but it's still by far my favorite launch.

For years after I built a hand full of custom rockets and launched with my dad but at around 13 the R/C bug bit me and I said so long to Estes. Today I'm picking this back up as a hobby mostly because of the affordability to "coolness" ratio especially when compared to R/C!!

Glad to be here! :)

Welcome aboard, Josh! If you're returning you'll find yourself in good company here.

Josh,

What kind of R/C were you into? I'm sorta in the same boat. I built/flew rockets as a kid with my dad and then ended up getting into control line flying and then eventually R/C airplanes, Cars, Helicopters, and foamies :D. I got rid of most of my giant scale birds and now stick to the small electric stuff.

Glad to have a fellow R/C'r here.

John

combine both your hobbies with RC gliders that are rocket launched.

welcome to TRF

I never got into flying...though I would love to. :D

I was very much into R/C Monster trucks. I've owned several Traxxas Stampede's and several Tamiya trucks including one very modified Clodbuster. Most recently rock crawlers were my main interest. I always wanted to get into some of the scale Tamiya trucks like the Bruiser, Hilux etc...but never had the cash flow. I guess I'm a "backyard basher" at heart. I never got into racing or on-road cars.

This will sound crazy but I think I enjoy taking them apart, tweaking and modifying more than actual driving of them.

My bills take priority over such a pricey hobby these days though. It was nice while it lasted and when Mom picked up the tab on her credit card. lol

Thanks to everyone for the welcome!

Gillard, I'll have to look into those! :D
