Any interest in a FB Official OpenRocket Support Group?

Ok, I don't know jack about running a Facebook group, but I was thinking that maybe there might be some interest one for OpenRocket.

Yeah, a FB group would be my least preferred way of doing it. I would prefer something like a dedicated subforum on TRF.

Gents, I would recommend a subforum on TRF. I do not have a dog in this as I rarely ever use it, but this is what we did on RP for Rocksim. Worked well.

My email into the developers was replied to. Basically, there's some interest by some members to have a FB fan page, but the support of OR would remain via the mail list as there is some resistance to using FB, and TRF is officially considered a source of official support.

I think perhaps we should split up the Electronics and Software into two parts, sims, and things that actually fly.

I understand what you are saying. Let me give you another view. Too many subforum a keeps people from actually reading posts. They get tired of looking through too many sub forums. It is a fine line between making something that works and dividing things too much.

Yahoo group? I follow those and simply pipe the messages to a folder in email. I can look, save, delete whenever I want.
I was flattered one time when a group owner ask me to help administrate requests to join and screen messages.
It's pretty easy. If he gets to them first he passes them through if I get to them I deal with them. Kurt

Fast answers, personally archivable, not web indexable/ searchable.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I can go back and read RMR, EMRR, and TRF; but not much of RP or N3D.

I hope, if I ever come up with something useful, that people who've never met anyone I know will be able to use it to advance the hobby.

That's right. As I recall, Darrell didn't want bots trolling (more proximal to the pre-internet meaning) the threads gathering information, which at that time could be unwound to discover individual IP addresses, so he only allowed the first page of each thread to be scanned.

Not gone, just in limbo. I've been making sure the server upon which it's hosted has been paid every year; I've made sure the domain registry is kept up.
My goal was to migrate the old vbulletin forums to a newer version or perhaps some other forum software. The Joomla content is a bit of a challenge. I may just unlink the two, but maybe there are better options now than when I shut it down.

I haven't kept up on what's out there; when the time comes I'll try to draft people with more hands-on knowledge than me (that's a very large group). My first contacts will be Brad, Mark, and Lukas. First I would need to receive ownership from Darrell's son.

While FB might be a another avenue, I think everyone that is interested is pretty much already here participating. I for one, a heck of a lot more here than FB.

I've been meaning to follow up on this. If TRF is "officially considered a source of official support", where exactly is said support? I see a whole lot of unofficial support being given by you and me and others, but very little if any participation from self-identified developers. The feature wishlist thread has seen no obvious participation from any developers recently, and so we have zero feedback about what might be coming in the future.

So I'm having a bit of a hard time grasping the "official" aspect of this place.
