I love the Estes 29 mm motor retainers because they are simple, good looking and cheap. In fact, I just rigged one to fit my Wildman Punisher Sport. They aren't quite as sexy as the Aeropac, HAMR or Slimline retainers, but I think they look much better than Kaplow clips or comparable budget retention options.

The only issue is that plastic screw-on retainers only come in 24 and 29 mm sizes. Has anyone tired to make an upscaled version for 38 or 54 mm motor mounts? If affordable, I would use something like this on all of my builds.

The issue with ramping up the design is the heat factor. Depending on what material you print with these retainers can loose their integrity pretty fast.

For example, PLA which is the most common 3D printed object is soft around 170*C. The ambient temperature of around the retainer from larger motors can meet or exceed that temperature.
 
I wouldn't.

Not only the heat concern, but the durability of the printed part. This is layers and layers of deposited material, each layer in itself a potential failure point. Especially at the point where the shape changes from the 'threaded' (thin) portion to the 'retainer' (thick) portion.. Stresses, vibrations, etc..
