Yeah, According to the weather link the wind is near calm so get those big shots up early. Also Navy cancelled the GPS jamming tests so that's not a worry. Kurt

That was very nice of the Navy cancelled test just for us rocket people. I checked out the Face Book page. are they really bring back the Hybrid Motor?

Oh man, the weather at this link is incredible if true at the time of this posting: https://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/panel.cgi?call=DW4819&LED=0&xsize=800
The winds are calm.

I believe the GPS jamming testing was canceled I bet from airlines getting ticked off about the pilots having to use "old fashioned" navigation methods or as like was mentioned some equipment or software wasn't ready for the testing session. Kurt

I don't think I have never seen a LDRS with no one putting up some posts. Today we should know if anyone has put in a bid for next year. Is AT really bringing back the Hybrid motor?

Not about LDRS but... Happy 33rd Anniversary Wayne and Sharon.

I know what the online weather shows, but I will underscore that it takes endurance to prep and recover rockets at LDRS this year. There have been some great flights. ROC has a great layout that can handle a lot of fliers. Friday was steady, not at all crowded, and I expect today to be busier.

I flew my scratch 4" Black Brant on an L585, which simmed to about 9,600ft, but I may never know. The "up" was beautiful, but I didn't see an event, and never saw it again. Today will be day 2 of the search....

Yup, Some of us old crocks don't FB and I woulda thought there would be cellphone and internet service available nearby. Perhaps something will be told tonight. Kurt

We have been so busy flying rockets, I haven't been posting up our flights. Smaller crowd than I expected, but still a good turnout. Wind comes up in the afternoon, but they moved up the start time to 7 am on Thursday, I have been doing the wake up flight with my Lil' Rascal on a J250 skid, but this morning we kicked it up a bit, flying my Ultimate Darkstar on an M2000 redline. I think we have flown thirteen flights since Wednesday, with four M motors in the last two days.

Yeah, I'm a little surprised there haven't been more LDRS pics/videos/summaries but maybe they're just having too much fun!

Regarding the hybrids, they're not reintroducing them; however cool they might be. Instead they're making parts available and documents. Essentially a way to home brew them yourself if you're so inclined.

LDRS report (from the sidelnes) tomorrow- too bleached 2 nite. Wayne and Sharon flew the champagne they shared with friends. The flight was just as exciting as you can imagine their relationship is. Strong and tight with a commitment to excellence! Happy 33rd guys, you ROC my world. On a sadder note Nibbles used his last life. I really did almost cry! Ad Astra, Space Kitty. More tomorrow.

I am saddened by the loss of Nibbles the AstroCat

It was great to finally meet Wayco and Sharon!

I had a blast, the whole time. The wind gets rough but that is life on a lake bed. My major flight was a Punisher 4 on M3700, went basically flawless except for shearing the external Mobius camera right off, not wholly surprising though it did survive some high end motors with my original Punisher. I am still hoping someone finds the memory card one day, should have left contact information in a text file on there but if that video ever surfaces here I think it would find its way to me.

After that I packed in some more modest flights to round out the trip, and had a great time meeting lots of new people.

Nibbles had a rough, albeit glorious life. No more kourageous kitty has ever lived.

On the way home from work today, in Phoenix, I saw the AMW RV and trailer headed east.
Easy to see with the critters painted on the trailer.

Update: Gerald, (a.k.a. Skippy) told me my Black Brant was in lost and found, and I recovered it Saturday night after the banquet. If anyone here knows who found it, please let me know.

Did it have an "it's not rocket surgery" sticker on it?

Yep - sure did.
I ran across it on the E-W road about 1/2 mile NE from the range head as I was returning from recovering my M flight about 1 PM on Friday. I was going to record the GPS location and leave it but I got a ride from a ROC guy in a pickup and he loaded it up and took it to lost+found.
