Thanks Tim, did you guys get a lot of rain yesterday too? Was supposed to be just a drizzle here, but it rained hard for a few hours.

I had really hoped to make it this weekend. My coworker had surgery so I am on call, hence need to be around.

Did you get the range open today? Winds, at least from the weather sites, appear to be flirting right around the 20-21 mph range, with gusts higher. Also looked at winds aloft- yowza.

Now noon and amazingly people are flying. Northwestern team put up the first rocket around 10am. Have had one or two L1 certs. So far largest motor was an L1350C*.

Cool. Glad you guys are not shut down due to wind.

I looked at the winds aloft- must be making for some good walks.

Geez, I got back to the field at 2:30 after fixing my car and everybody is gone!

What time does the party start?

How much launching got done today? I will be down there tomorrow probably for the morning- just enough to see CZTeacherman's L3, hopefully.

I sure hope you guy's had a great day at the field today...
Raise a glass for me tonight.....

Teddy

I sure hope some one is taking pictures? Miki and I were there late Friday afternoon. I ended up in 2 different hospitals before we got my problem taken care of.

See Ya all

Another 8 or so flights this evening. All successful. One L1 cert. And highlight last flight from Jason Griffin--his pink Ta-Ta's rocket on a beautiful pink motor!

Day 2 is just ahead of us. In up early and heading to the field in about 30 min. The waiver is called in from 8am till 8pm. We will be busy today because of the good weather and the fact that 90% of flights never happened yesterday. I think I burned the most igniters than anybody and that was all in the same motor (still didn't light) hope to see everyone there early and ready to burn some holes in the sky. Looking forward to a great day.

Wildman will be on site fully stocked and ready to take care of any supply needs.

Fly early.....
Fly often!

Great! See you shortly griffmeister!

Unfortunately I had to leave the launch by 1030, but I did have a good time while I was there. Congrats to CZTeacherman on his L3!

Woot! Amazing day for flying. Some unfortunate CATO's, but also a bunch of successful cert flights, myself included...
Congrats to WLViking for his L2, congrats to djs for his first ever EX flight. Congrats to Griffin for winning/not winning his drag race with Sather... Lots of great, great flights today. Overall successful.
I'll post the few pictures I have later, looking forward to seeing what others have gotten.
Thanks to the Wildman and Wildwoman for their hospitality yesterday. Thanks to Jason and Steve and the whole QCRS crew for setup and operations. Very successful weekend despite a barely-there Saturday. Good times were had by all.

Hi Ethel's...It's me again.

What a weekend! First off i'd like to announce that Tripoli has TWO new L-3 certified Rocketeers in Eric Czerwin and, Aris Simsarian!
Congratulations to you both and, a humble thank-you in allowing me to be a small part of the process too...

Nick D. came out and, successfully performed the required criteria to become an L-2, so Sunday for me was a very busy day! ;)

In no particular order i would like to thank-

QCRS's Resident President Jason Griffin for putting on an excellent event and, for everything that he does...
Tim and, Jackie Lehr for opening up their home and, allowing me the extra time/attention for picking up some extra parts...
Justin Farrand for so unselfishly spending the time to capture these moments at the field on video and, the time he takes later to create his incredible videos!
"The Claude" for just being "The Claude" for prep and recovery assistance with my flight later in day after things settled down! ;)
Richard Cash too, for all of his help with my flight!
Steve Pauling for resetting my hearing with his incredible display of Pyrotechnic prowess on Saturday night...

Along with everyone who put up the equipment, ran the show and, tore it down...Thank-you!

My Father and, i had a good trip and, time overall...I've said it before- i cherish these moments because i don't know how many more i'll get...

I'll see some of you at "BOING" this coming weekend! :p Until the next time we meet again...Take care!

I met a gentleman on Sunday the 15th, his name is Tom E. and he is a friend of one of our usual suspect fliers Steve W. He was taking some video with DJI Phantom and he emailed me a link to some of the footage he spliced together:

Echoing others...a big thanks to all that made Mini Midwest Power (3?) possible! Thanks Jason, Steve, Erik, and co. for setup, tear down, running the range. Thanks Tim and Jackie for the great hospitality as always! Thanks Justin for your tireless efforts in the field with your videography skills. Thanks Richard for melting your shoes with me after Gus started the place on fire again:wink:...thanks Gus for the warning so we could be proactive! Thanks to all who came and provided great company and entertainment....only regret not being able to be there more/longer!

Here's a few photos from the day I forgot how to do rocketry!:facepalm:

I didn't have the camera out/assembled in time, so missed photos of Erik Cz's L3... but the Gizmo V looked great; congrats, bud! Well done! Now time for a 4" red, or the 1939W, or the 3400WT...all good!

First up, Scott Goebel and Brent Lillesand with an Arrow 4 on a K550W...I think we've drag raced these rockets...Midwest Power 5!

Thunderbird returns to Princeton for it's 13th flight. This old bird has flown at most MWP's...this was it's first MMWP. Anyway, CTI L1720 White Thunder. First igniter (stock CTI) didn't light the pyrogen and thus the motor, so took two tries, but worked great once lit! 9100'.

Drew's L3 attempt that captured the record for most trees cut down in order to recover a single rocket! After a long battle with several trees and an extra night in Princeton, he achieved his L3 today! Interesting: I saw this rocket last week and it was white, neon green, and black. This week it's blue and yellow...neat!

Gizmo XL DD + M2000 White Tundra = kaBoom! Tried something different on the forward end of the motor...didn't work so well. Looked good at this point...not so much a few milliseconds later.

Aris's L3 attempt that The Gus mentioned above. Really nice flight on an M1500 Mojave Green. Congrats on the L3, dude!

...and it recovered intact out by the road:

Meanwhile, another green motor propels a stubby creation. Think it's green anyway....

Mad Bomber Pauling on the left beats Hot Tub Griffin on the right. L3200 Vmax vs. L995 Red...I think.

Greg Olson fixed up his Dad's Rocketman Wahoo. Shown here burning some White Lightning

Good chute. Landed just to the right of the pads on a windy day. His Magnum on a J415W landed within 200' of the LCO as well; well done, Greg!

Tom's Rerailed launches on a AMW-Pro-X K535 Red Rhino.

and pulls a Carl Van Camp lefty:

Learning how to fly rockets again, I put the Magnum on the pad with a Kosdon L1650 Fast. Brutal motor...like it!

152_zpsc1jofkom.jpg

When The Gus flies rockets, he doesn't just throw them on the pad and push the button, he launches in style. The carpet is rolled out, the National Anthem sung, flyover complete, and Gus methodically builds up the impending flight. Gus's last AMW M2200 Skid goes in Red Dog, the Scooter sustainer.

Gus takes a bow, and the "Go" button is depressed. As usual, Gus lights the place on fire; my pants smelled like burning brush pile for the ride home!

Higher...

Walking back from doing the grass stompin' hoedown, a really nicely finished rocket is loaded onto the pad. Nice mirage color shifting finish is lofted on a red motor. Unfortunately, she came in hot.

Before putting away the camera, Ben "Barn Jart" W. loads up the Dark Star Jr. on a speedy white motor. No barns were injured during the production of this photo.

That's all I've got folks. Great seeing everyone, a genuine "Thanks" to all who made it happen, and we'll see y'all at the Bong and back in Princeton for MWP14!
