Mythbusters - The End has Come...

Well there it is. Just watched the three episode finale of Mythbusters... It's over.

I have to say, after thirteen years of this show it's sad to see it go. Mythbusters truly has shaped my life in many ways. If it weren't because of their "science hiding behind a thin veil of explosions" I probably would not have developed my love of science, engineering, and technology. I've learned so much from their shows over the years, I couldn't tell you how many times I've used the phrase "Well the mythbusters tested it and..." To prove a point or defend an opinion. I completely agree with them that the show jump started my generation to science and technology.

Here's to a great show that has finally come to an end.

I will say that I think Kari Byron had a lot to do with my daughter getting into the sciences the way she has. My little girl is a senior now and is looking to go to one of the top engineering schools and has been involved in the schools FIRST robotics teams all four years. A lot of times we'd just laugh at the show rather than with it and gawk at their occasionally inept safety practices. As silly and unscientific as Mythbusters was sometimes I think it was a good thing.

I agree with all of the above. I got started on the show in January of 2005 when I was home sick from work and could do little more than lie on the sofa and watch TV. There was a Mythbusters marathon running, and I must have watched 20 episodes. Then I set the DVR, and for the last eleven years I have been watching.

You know, I just really liked the personalities. I rarely cared what the "myth" was, especially in the last few seasons. But Adam, Jamie, Tory, Grant and Keri really started to feel like old friends. They will be missed.

It was a fun show, but sometimes frustrating as hell at the assumptions they'd make, or the changes they'd make to a test and totally ignore even though it would skew the results greatly. But very entertaining otherwise and I still watch it when I can.

True. It was entertainment first, scientific method second. Glad they were humble enough to go back and retest things that they screwed up.

It is sad, but, they will still be on in syndication. I also hope that they will do a special in the future.

Read an article on how Adam and Jamie continued to work successfully together for 14 years even though they didn't like each other. Basically, they were united in the work, similar minded in goals and methods, respected each other's work ethic, and agreed on the big things.

Yep... pretty decent! Really enjoyed the show over the years.

One of my favorites was a very early one, where they tested the myth that a penny dropped from the Empire State Building would pass completely through a person on the ground. My father always insisted this was true, and neither one of us knew anything about terminal velocity. That was cool.

I always enjoyed watching that, and iirc a show called "3-2-1 Contact"

Between watching Mr. Wizard, McGyver, Monster Garage, and Mythbusters, I'm pretty confident in my fabrication skills!

Do they always work? No, but it's at least fun trying, and you learn what NOT to do next time

If, by chance, someone I know would like to have a picture of him with Kari Byron (at LDRS 30) autographed is that...plausible?!

I see there is a site with addresses to send things to be autographed (by all sorts of 'stars') and wondered if it was legit.....

I'd applaud the show going off the air, but they'd probably just show more "How It's Made" or "The Legend of Mick Dodge" shows.

The address in the link looks like her Agent's office address and they do say wait for up to 3 months for a return so it may be a real signature.
