Folks, I've been getting lots of questions tonight about TRF, the old database, issues, concerns, etc.

First, everyone should know that without LTVScout's (Scott, YORF owner) help this evening we still wouldn't have TRF back up and operational. Scott fielded a couple of phone calls from me and has assisted me, without notice, in helping me get TRF back up. So a sincere thanks goes to Scott for all of his help and assistance.

Second, a number of people are asking about all of the old TRF data. It's important to let everyone know that the old TRF data is still there, although it's corrupted. Every effort will be made to get the information restored. It'll be a tough road, but I'm optimistic. The first priority was to get the board up, and from there we'll go after the old data. It may be a longer path doing it this way, but with the right expert we should be okay - if it's salvagable.

Third, yes, the revised TRF does have it's share of bugs to work out. In order to fix them, we need to know what they are. If you can, when you see something, please post it under the Feedback forum and we'll tackle it one step at a time.

Fourth, suggestions are also welcome. So post those there (Feedback) as well. Whether it be wanting more "smilies", custom avatars, etc. We're open to everything.

Fifth, please note that there TRF rules & guidlines are there for everybody to read. I'm very sincere when I say that TRF aims to be inclusive of everyone. If you'll notice no "bans" have carried over from the past. Everyone gets a new start.

As they used to say on M*A*S*H* . . . that is all.

Troy, get some rest. I thought you took your medication and were off to bed. So go.

In the morning, a few things to work out.

Seems noone except for administrators can post an avatar or change their byline. New member sounds old.

As for the old database, it would be nice to have it back. A suggestion: if it can't be completely be brought back and incorporated into this one, then just leave it as an archived one that is accessable from somewhere on here.

Please change the title of RTF is back in this section to TRF is back as it makes me look like an amateur.

We also need to put in a section for resources (lots of work done and now gone) and a vendor thread. It would be great if it was able to rotate the vendors to make it fair for all.

And if you need any support, I am sure vendors are ready to step up.

You're welcome!

Troy, the old database will not be able to be merged into the new system. If the data is salvagable you could create a second locked VB system so the data could be searched and read.

Congrats on getting the system up AK! Gather the bugs and work them off at your leisure. (I'm putting my comments in the Forum)

As of this posting you should be able to upload custom avatars and add your own user "handle".

Could you make the old info available as a "sticky" and maybe even have a link in YORF to it?

As you can probably see you can add an avatar and your signature.

Post / Thread Order Fix

This has been fixed for all new users - which isn't a comfort to those who've already registered, I know.

In order for you to view posts (not forums) from oldest to newest do the following:

USER VP > EDIT OPTIONS > THREAD DISPLAY MODE > LINEAR OLDEST TO NEWEST

I posted a reply in the Techniques section this morning. Everytime I hit the "New Posts" options at the top, that particular thread does not show as "updated". Any help?

Thanks Troy, and thanks Scott--this is just a continuation of what makes rocketry great--people helping others and sharing resources. Troy go get some rest!!

Just wanted to say thanks for getting my posting issues addressed. Didn't want to bother you with a PM. I'm sure you're getting plenty of them to sift through. Good Luck!

Thank you guys! You did a great job getting this forum back online! :)

Thanks for all of the work AK - glad to see everything's up and running again. Hopefully, the old data is at least partially recoverable, but regardless, I'm happy to see the website finally back :)

Troy, I posted a comment/request in the Thumbnail Attachments thread you started in the Feedback forum before I read this thread.

Basically, what I would like to see with attachments is behavior like TRF used to have and YORF still does: when I click on a thumbnail there, a new tab opens in Firefox with the full-size picture in it, while TRF stays open in its original tab. That way, I can/could open multiple attachments and still have TRF open.

As it is now, first the picture shows up in that black box, then when you click on it, the full-size picture is shown in the tab/window that TRF was in. So I can only open one attachment at a time, and the attachment replaces the TRF screen in the same window/tab.

(I apologize in advance for the duplicate postings.)

What kind of issues are you seeing in the database files from the old board? Email me if you want some help looking at it. I might be able to help you recover some data. I do a ton of database work and general programming, so I might be able to write a tool to recover data from files that the database engine can't read.

Of course, much depends on the level of corruption in the files. I can't say anything for sure without seeing some sample data. I'd love to at least recover some of the old build threads and such.
