The instructions and support aren't online yet. I ordered a couple anyways.

I strongly suggest the remote switch for ground testing ejection charges. For an MD rocket, one can seal up the remote switch
(the switch one goes to ebay to buy the transmitter) in the electronics bay and use it for ground firing of charges to test for the appropriate
ejection charge size for proper deployment. Of course if one is using the EggTimer TRS can use that device to ground test.
I found for 38mm stuff, I can make a small temporary sled to mount the remote switch receiver. Be extremely careful if handling live charges with any device even in standby mode with power applied. I am careful with gloves and a welder's face mask with a clear face shield. I also test with a voltmeter before connecting charges to terminal with the switch in standby mode and power applied.

Having assembled one myself with mods, I believe the price is reasonable. There is critical measuring that can dork the project.
Take a look around here to see the different iterations of the EF LCD receiver. Some are very impressive. Kurt Savegnago

Like Kurt said it is a daunting task of course it's also not $100 profit. $80 of that is for antennas,switches,bluetooth module,wire,and RP-SMA connectors.

You may want to update your first post int this thread with your latest assembly prices. For instance, the Wi-Fi switch assembly is now $10 per your web site and is $7 here. Quark is now $14 instead of $13 ...

I've had quite a bit of emails asking if I'm still doing this. Well, I'm glad to say that I'm still going strong! I actually got my 300th order a couple of weeks ago! Thanks everybody for all of your support and continued business. This has certainly grown much larger then I had ever expected it had to. I'm getting overloaded with orders each week! Since you obviously have an eye for the details and tools to correct mistakes, any chance of a service to look at Eggtimer products some of us may have butchered but can still be repaired?
 
in many cases it's easier to make something from scratch than it is to fix mistakes... for example how would you un solder surface mount GPS chips without damaging something? Those parts are meant to be used in mass assembly settings (the part is placed on with high precision with solder paste, and then it is wave soldered in an oven). Mistakes like that are often discarded, if it's not easily hand fixable (for example electrolytic capacitors on computer motherboards can be fixed by hand) because they're cranking out such a number that it's cheaper to make one more than it is to fix the mistake.

You are perfectly correct Tai. Get a glob a solder under the WiFi chip or dork the GPS receiver that's already on the board and one is SOL. Unless, it's something obvious like a solder bridge, best to chalk it up to experience and start over.
That said, I lifted the GPS base successfully off a dorked EggFinder where the GPS snapped off the base. Desoldered like heck and used a cut-off wheel carefully to split the base. I substituted on out board GPS chipset and just ran + and - to the 3.3V
terminals on the EF v1 and one wire to the signal in on the board. Works. That's isolated because I knew right off the problem. GPS broke in two. Hunting for gremlins is a lot harder. Sure dorking a $70.00 kit can be tough but at least it's not

He fixed one that my father had trouble with. Send him an email and have him triage it. Send pictures with it, what's the worst that could happen... It's unfixable like you suspected.

On a side note, this dude is amazing in more ways than soldering. I won't get into detail but Connor is top notch.

For anyone that hasn't seen there is a new Eggfinder mini, it is much smaller then the normal Eggfinder TX. I will be assembling these for the same cost as I do the normal Eggfinders for. I will have it up on the website soon. Thanks for the continued support!

On a side note: (I know I haven't been great at getting things back to people as fast I was previously able too and heres why)

I'm at college and I have no where close to the free time I did when I was in high school. I'm doing the best I can to accommodate everyone's needs but the truth of the matter is that things are taking much longer to get done and my communication hasn't been great. I'm going to work on these but I just wanted to put this out there. Thanks
