It seems like only yesterday it was the New Year. Plenty of time to get ready for NARCON and get ourselves settled in for the '09 rocketry year...

A QUARTER OF THE YEAR'S GONE BY and NARCON is 2 WEEKS AWAY!

Man, *that* was a quick day... what the heck happened?? LOL

One nice thing about running a rocket company is that the winters seem to never end, and they're never long enough...

First on the list of news is that we've published our 2009 tour schedule (heck, we realized that we had never published a 2008 schedule at all...).

You can get to it by clicking this link. or clicking the appropriate link on the right of our home page. Check it out and see where we're going to be in the coming year. We would love to have you visit and stop by our booth to say hi :)

Other news from our main page and our "What's New" page talks a little about the 3 new kits that are coming out this month at NARCON.

We have the:
  • Nantucket Sound NARCON commemorative kit. We will be donating a slew of them for the event and offering many more at half price. Details will be published shortly. We will also have a build session at NARCON :)
  • Dead Ringer - Micro to the MAXX futuristic kit with an echo of the Borealis in her lines. A very clever use of some fun parts not normally used in micro models :) Very easy assembly, I built the lastest proto type in about 10 minutes...
  • Tiddlywink - MttM 1/8A HD bird to address the NAR event that is scheduled for NARAM this summer. A unique design making use of many standard helicopter designs with many innovations of her own.

All 3 will be available at NARCON. They will also be available from our website BEFORE we leave for NARCON, so you can actually purchase yours before NARCON attendees even get a look at'em! Shipments of these kits will begin the week after we return from NARCON.

Once we get closer to the formal announcement for these 3 kits I will start a separate thread for each, so stay tuned :)

Jim how's the Saturn 1b coming?:D Are we grtting closer?

You need to come out to sunny Arizona in October for the 2-day, G Harry Stine Launch.

Interestingly enough, I had slated it for a NARCON release, but then the Nantucket Sound idea caught my attention :)

As a status, all of the assembly figures are complete, with the exception of some of the Launch Escape Tower figures.

My new goal for that kit is NARAM, so keep watch :)

Jim thanks for the status of the Saturn 1b. Looks like august is going to be a good month. Looking forward to the Dead Ringer.

Thanks for the warning. Now I definitely have to start saving my pennies...:D

Wait! Is that a Micro Maxx Saturn 1B?
 :D

It's a 13mm motor size Saturn 1B. The scale is in the 1/288 or somewhere in that size if I'm not mastaken.

It's a 1:282 scale 13mm bird. Very accurate with a high level of detail possible.

You can read about the original design that was built by Jay Marsh by clicking this link.

Jay helped me solve many of the scale issues I had with the original design and it's a beauty now. This will be our first kit with multiple skill levels, mainly based on the launch escape tower:
  • Skill Level 3 - Cutout paper wrap for the escape tower, limited surface details
  • Skill Level 4 - Tower assembly from 32 small pieces of wood and hand fabricated rocket nozzles
  • Skill Level 5 - Tower assembled by soldering 32 very small pieces of wire as done by Jay Marsh

The rocket itself has its own challenges, but man, that TOWER... :D

Was it your site that I saw in-between skill levels (ie 1.5, 2.5) recently?

Yep :) I got to feeling that the 1, 2, 3, etc were too course. While I haven't addressed all kits, I plan to. half skill level kits would be the ones you want under your belt as you contemplate going on to the next level.

With Peanut Sport Scale a NARAM event, you might want to think about sponsoring the NARAM trophy, or maybe offering up one of these to winner(s) in different divisions?
