I have always used Painter's Touch, but I read in an old thread that Stops Rust is better.

I've been using the Rustoleum automotive primer, very easy to sand if used in several thin coats. Then cover with either "Stops Rust" or "Metallic", followed by a couple of coats of "Crystal Clear".
This process makes for a very glossy finish.
However, it does make repairs or touch up a little tougher. It's not a problem as long as you don't mind sanding.

I try to use my spray gun mostly. If I do use rattle cans I use Krylon. Another good can paint is Tempo you can usually find it at auto paint supply houses.

What ever Home Depot sells, and currently they don't carry Krylon, so I guess it's Rustoleum, all flavors.

I have used all of the Rustoleum spray paint products, they just work for me. I use Painters Touch most of the time.

I have used Stops Rust cause it comes with a little bit of a nicer gloss than Krylon...but it costs a little more than Krylon.

I use anything available. I don't really mind which brand I use right now, because I like to experiment with different types and brands. I just picked up a can of red and black Painter's Touch yesterday.

I've not been a big fan of Rustoleum for two reasons. First, for me, it seems to take a really long time to dry, and second, an unacceptable number of the cans I've had spray out blobs of paint - -no matter how much the can is shaken. I rarely have that problem with Krylon, and when I did, it was with two cans from the same lot, and same color. I took them back, and the replacements were fine.

That said, I just used Rustoleum Professional, the color is Stainless Steel. It sprayed well, I like the color, but it was pretty "grainy" when it dried. I took 0000 steel wool to it, it smoothed it really well, and it really has a decent brushed metal finish to it. Very uniform in color, too.

As a final test, I clear coated it with Krylon Clear Gloss, to see if it held its color, or if it turned blotchy. Looks excellent, and the decals should go on very nicely.

I'll post a couple pictures when I'm done, but this product is definitely an improvement over what I've used before from Rustoleum. I'll be willing to try the Professional in another color to see if I'm equally satisfied.

I had the same problem, with the blobs. Several different colors, several different stores, even the primer. Seems to only happen towards the last 1/3 of the can. Maybe propellant issue. Glad to find out it was not just me.

Here is the nose cone with Rustoleum Stainless Steel, with Krylon Clear Gloss under and over the decals. The edges of the decals are basically invisible. I've also used the Matte over decals -- I'm sold on the Krylons for treatment under and over decals.
