Hi guys,
I'd like to show you my new rocketry project. From the last year me and my friends are working on polish sounding rockets as an amateur group called Pomeranian Space Team (PST). Our aim is to launch our own rocket into space (suborbital flight) in less than 5 years. We have some sponsors yet, but we're still looking for them. There are 4 people in our team I work on rockets, and the rest build flight computers and other avionics, as well as they help in other things.
Our new rocket is called TRSOV-1A the name's origin is from latin "TRSOVIA" which means "TCZEW" (my town in Poland). This is two-stage rocket powered by experimental sugar motors (KNO3/Sorbitol). First stage (5900 Ns) is 85 mm in diameter, and the second stage (1200 Ns) diameter is 62 mm. Both motor casings are made of filament wound carbon tube. Both nozzles are made of 40H steel and other parts are made of 2017 aluminum alloy. Nose cone as well as avionics part of the rocket is made of fiberglass tube.
The rocket weights around 17 kg and it's 3 meters long. Expected apogee is around 7,5 km (25 000 ft) with velocity around Mach 1.65.
Here is the project in Open Rocket:
... and the second stage itself:
I've made two fiberglass plates, from which we will mill fins and parts to the avionic bays. 5 mm thick plate is for first stage fins, and 2,15 mm thick plate is for second stage fins and avbay parts.
We've milled first stage fins so far:
And one of our sponsors have wound carbon tube for us this is fi 85 x 2,5 mm tube wound on 30 degrees angle.
Onboard the first stage is:
- TeleMetrum
- Arecorder (our polish flight computer with dual deployment)
- Chinese HD 720p camera
- our friends' experimental flight computer called ICS (Intelligent Control System)
Onboard second stage is:
- TeleMega
- Arecorder
- SJCAM SJ4000 HD camera
- TK102 GPS tracker
- our own experimental flight computer with telemetry system (photo below)
Here are some pics of our flight computer (we're still working on it, it's under construction):
And here it's previous version of that computer, but it didn't work well:
That's all we have done at the moment, but work goes on and we hope we'll launch the rocket in the middle of April. If not, the next term is in June.
I will update this thread .
