Odd topic maybe? I see a lot of people post Amazon links and they are very long. No harm in posting the long links, but you almost never need to do that.

The important part of the link stops at the ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number), which is pretty much always right after the /dp/ (Detail Page) tag in the URL. Everything after the ASIN contains things like search parameters, page selections, etc.

For example, I saw some links posted in @rfjustin 's recent thread on building a new curing oven (love the thread Justin!), it included this one:

https://www.amazon.com/SYLVANIA-Lighting-15476-Incandescent-A21-200W-2850K/dp/B000WXQZAY/ref=asc_df_B000WXQZAY/?tag=forumyield-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=216548266073&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7433207888592977636&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9021524&hvtargid=pla-390325235892&psc=1

In this case, the ASIN in the above link is: B000WXQZAY, so you only need the following in your post:

https://www.amazon.com/SYLVANIA-Lighting-15476-Incandescent-A21-200W-2850K/dp/B000WXQZAY

If you are feeling a bit jaunty, you don't need the product description in the URL at all - you can delete it altogether:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WXQZAY

Even more jaunty - Amazon actually ignores the product description altogether, so you can type whatever you want in that space:

https://www.amazon.com/this_is_Justins_lightbulb/dp/B000WXQZAY

Pro Amazon search tip - Since ASINs are 100% unique to any Amazon page you look at, if you want to share a link with someone, but want to keep it really short (maybe you want to text it to them on your phone), you can just send them the ASIN itself and if they put it in the Amazon search bar, the first thing in the resulting search will be the exact page you were looking at.

Example: Later in Justin's post, a user posted a link for a KETOTEK Digital Temperature controller. The ASIN for that page is B073QQ2VP2. If you put that in your Amazon search bar, it will find that exact page.

Additional tip:

Amazon is currently not showing the customer Q&A's on the product pages anymore (not sure why), but you can back into the Q&A page for a product using the following URL:

https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/asin/[ASIN]
Replace [ASIN] with the actual product ASIN

For example, the product page for a West Systems epoxy bundle is:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JKYCV8G

And the Q&A page would be:

https://www.amazon.com/ask/questions/asin/B07JKYCV8G[/URL
Until Amazon fixes this weirdness, this is the only solution I am aware of outside of using the search bar to get answers to a specific question.
