I got a 9 foot long, 3 inch wide mailing tube at work and had to make use of it. The spirals were too awful to fill in the traditional sense so I am trying to texture over them and make the whole bit rough rather than smooth. I am not sure if I like the way it is coming out, but will complete the build that way regardless.

Cut the tube into thirds, then attach toilet paper rolls as fins -

Kinda off topic, but I was at a Christmas pageant for one of the grand rocketeers and, as required, there was a potty run. The interesting thing was that one roll of TP was out. When I went to replace it, I found the tube was the sturdiest I've seen since I first made a rocket out of one in the late 60's. Even then, they were squishy. The replacement was white wrapped and un-branded. I've heard reports that the new stuff won't even have a roll. Made me think about looking for the supply closet :)
