Freedom Launch 2023, Day 1

Flight report

• Altitude 1,126ft
• Very straight boost
• Nominal recovery
• Landed on a fin, popped part of one fillet
• Eggtimer Quasar performed flawlessly on all channels

Close observers will notice that the fins extend 1.5” past the aft end of the tube. Oops, apparently I had the wrong root length in my OpenRocket plan, which caused me to mount the fins further aft than intended. Oh well. This can only help stability and may be partly responsible for the fact that 8oz less nose weight was needed this time.

Love the Minnie-Mag. I lawn darted mine, but was able to salvage and rebuild the NC. I've been thinking about DD but nothing like this.

Just read through the whole thread! What an adventure - man I was sad to see that total loss of the first iteration. But such beautiful pics of the launches!

Hmmmmm could I build a 2 stage Minnie Maag and get it below 1.5Kg. I had 400 gms available on the pseudo Minnie Maag single stage. Build thread coming on....
