Hmmm, the most common home made fuel seems to be KNO3 + Sugar. I say some videos on Youtube, it looks pretty powerful.

Anyone ever tried it? It seems pretty safe/reliable.

Yes, people use it for rocket fuel (called r-candy or rocketcandy or other names) Yes, it is safe. Harder to light than APCP and very hygroscopic (absorbs water). Problem is, we can't talk about such things here....against the rules.

No, just the forum doesn't like to talk about such things. You'd have to ask the forum owner/moderators to find out why.

There are LOTS of places on the internet that will answer any question you have about it.

Search the propulsion forums, there is plenty of talk about Candy propellants...the Forum intent is to not discuss specifics (i.e. formulas etc) However, discussion and pictures and basic info has been shared freely without much incident for some time. The threads that do remain are proof of that.

(Taken directly from the guidelines)

EXPERIMENTAL (EX) MOTOR DISCUSSIONS
Due to the potential hazards inherent in the personal manufacture of rocket motors (Experimental Rocketry or EX for short), discussions on this topic will be closely monitored. Posts which entail complete formulae for motor propellants will be removed from the forum. Posts or discussions which reveal complete or substantially complete lists of ingredients for propellant formulae may also be edited or removed at the discretion of the administrators and moderators of the forum, whose decisions may be questioned politely, but are not negotiable. Some other discussions may wander into territory that we are not comfortable with and may also be removed or edited at a moderator's discretion. While we would like to be able to give a concrete list of what will and will not be acceptable for this topic, the advanced nature of EX does not allow for such definitive lines to be drawn.
