Hi!

Here's a message I received on 5-Sep-01 from the President of the Tri-City SkyBusters. I went to the first GLRMR and it was great! Check it out if you live anywhere near Amherst, Ohio.

To All Fellow Rocketeers,

On Saturday, October 06 (Rain Date Sunday, Oct. 07), 2001,
come back to Northern Ohio where it all started! The Tri-City Sky
Busters, NAR #535, are pleased to announce the second Great Lakes Regional Meet Revisited. These rocket meets were started in the 1970s here in Northern Ohio and eventually turned into the first LDRS launches which were held in Medina, OH. The GLRMR-II will be held in Amherst, OH.

We have a large, flat farm to use with a FAA waiver to one
mile. Flights thru "L" motors are possible. We are Hypertek
equipped. Porta-Johns will be on site and food as well.
Ross from Magnum will be there to fill ALL your rocket
needs. We will also have a raffle with lots of great prizes to
support our efforts to get an equipment trailer. Please visit our web site at www.skybusters.org for further
details!

Yesterday, I received notice from Les Kramer that GLMRL-II as been postponed (See below). I can appreciate this. I wonder why Fireball and the northwest are able to fly -- maybe the GLMRL-II is closer to the hot spots and more densely populated.

I just look at it as if the winter building season is starting early. I can spend my motor money on new kits. At least I will have nice weather to paint outside.

To All Fellow Rocketeers,
I knew this was probably going to happen but did not want to
think about it. The FAA just called me and made it VERY clear that
they wanted NO rocket launching of any type or size until further
notice!! They canceled our waivers...NO NOTEMS for Large Model
Rockets...nothing. They said we could reapply after they stand down
from the heightened state of security at all airports. When asked
when this might be, they said "Your guess is as good as ours."
In light of recent events this is all very understandable.
We will just have to start the building season earlier than usual.
As of right now, there will be no GLRMR-II or any other launches.

Les Kramer, Pres.

stponed. No FAA-waiver.:) :) :)

Tony,

I also received the same message from Skybusters and am waiting for some kind of announcement from the NAR and Tripoli. I am hopeful it is as you said, because of the populated area and applies to that area only, but understand if they make it nation-wide. We have a sport rocket meet scheduled tomorrow and called in for our LMR's, but I haven't heard any word yet whether or not Dave had a problem filing.

If something is going on, I would like to know as I have a trip palnned to attend a two-day event at Whitakers, NC next weekend for HPR and would hate to drive 450 miles to find out it was off.

BTW, welcome to the forum...I noticed you are in Akron, which was my ole stomping grounds in the mid-70's. I am originally from Warren and used to live in Cuyahoga Falls. Glad to have you aboard.

I do not think the waiver cancellations are going to be nationwide. You may have seen this below.

Carl, Thanks for the welcome. I grew up in Erlanger, KY and went to Xavier University. I believe you know my brother-in-law, Bill Eichelberger, a.k.a. Fishhead.
