Believe it or not, I had never heard of the venerable Estes Sprite. When I got back into rocketry I saw pictures of the Hawks Hobby Super Sprite and decided that was something I wanted. I ordered it and the build was not too difficult. The finish job, though, gave me fits as I tried to brush paint it.

For a while, I flew it very regularly but its been a long time since it has taken to the air. I need to find it and fly it again.

My Sprite predates my joining TRF but there is a short flight thread in the archive: https://www.rocketryforumarchive.com/showthread.php?t=48032

Mine is yet to fly, but one day soon........ It's mini-engine powered with silver Mylar streamer recovery, so you can tell I'm really hoping to find it after the flight. With the exception of the motor mount and Kevlar it's all Semroc construction. I tried cutting my own balsa, but in the case of a rocket like this one, that's just silly.

Here is my original Estes Sprite built circa 1967. It was my first ever rocket and I flew it a lot when short motors were available.

As you can see, my finishing skills left a lot to be desired.

What a pain in the butt this little rocket was. I like it, though.

Mt Sprite is an upscale using a parachute. The ring was made from a 4" Planter's Peanuts can.

And my BT 70 version.

My Sprite was built from a Thrustline kit, flies on 13mm engines, and uses a streamer for recovery.
