The planet Mercury will be visible starting tonight and tomorrow right after sunset, and should be easy to spot. Get yourself a nice clean horizon (the beach or an open field, and watch the sunset. Then, about and hour later, look about three fist lengths up and two fingers to your right from where the sun set and you should see, in the twilight glow, a somewhat dim but visible bright dot. This is the planet Mercury, first rock from the sun. Literally. It's all iron.
This should last about 3 weeks before it swings back into the bright glow of our closet nuclear neighbor.
Also, Jupiter is quite visible at night in the southern sky. Look for the brightest object, and that is Jupiter, King of the planets.
Mars is dimly visible directly overhead - look for the red one.
