ALTON, Illinois USA — One of the most coveted scale model rockets of all time are models of NASA's venerable Saturn 1B, one of the workhorses in America's early space program. Both Estes and Centuri offered scale models in the 1/100 range during the late 60's and early 70's but just try to find one today — the price would probably astound you. Perhaps this adds to the mystique, but for the scratch model builder, there are plans floating around the Internet to allow you to make you own clone of one of these two great models. To make your cloning experience easier, Paul Graf of Alton, Illinois, has cooked up his own vacuformed versions of the corrugated airframe wraps that make the NASA space rockets so unique.
