I will be coming to New York and Florida at the beginning of May 2006.

Could anybody tell me of any good rocketry contacts or shops that stock MPR or HPR at the places I'm going to or if there are any any launches happening.

Hey Paul,

You know you can't buy motors right?
Because your not a US citizen.

You need to talk to a club there and find out who to get around this.(It can be done, but I don't know how)

I though I'd tell you before you get there and find out.

P.S want to bring me back an altimeter ?

Yeah, I know I can't buy motors. I want to buy rockets/parts

I got your vid. Thanx.

**** that Cirrs moves fast.

That might be able to be arranged. I'll see what I can do.

I have to make a big list of things to get.

Don't know what part of Florida yet.

All of it!? :)

I have to my research.

We will be going to Disney World and Kennedy Space Centre.

There is a planned launch of the Space Shuttle on the 10th of May so if that doesn't change, I hope to be there for it.
Maybe even hitch a ride :)

Huh? I've never exactly had to show ID to buy motors and I can even mail-order them.

They are, however, getting up my nose when buying spray paint down at the Home Despot (but not at the hobby shops). Like this 40-y-o rocket scientist is out painting graffiti! (Or worse yet, being a straw purchaser for the 3-y-o boy in tow!)

Cool, thats on my list of things to do as well.

Well thats what the rule is.After 9/11 it changed.

I'm sure you can buy motors, I'm sure if I went there I could buy motors. but the point is that you should just get the paper work done.

I would pay for it.(I just had to make sure you knew I wasn't asking for it for free)

When I've been across to Florida from the UK, I normally try to catch a NEFAR launch at Bunnell - about an hour's drive north of Orlando (https://www.nefar.net/). Very friendly folks in the club. New Horizons Hobbies attends their launches, Dennis is a good guy to deal with. Looks like his site may be down though (www.newhorizonshobbies.com).

KSC is well worth a visit, and if you're there, take the Kennedy then & now tour, as it takes you round the historic pads at the Cape too, including the AirForce Space & Missile Museum - though you might want to check what's happening there before you go. I was last there in March 2005 and a lot of the exhibits were being taken from the AFSMM 'rocket garden' for refurbishing, some were rehomed with other museums, but the rest were apparently to be moved into the Mercury hangar for display.

The then & now tour also takes you out to pad 34, and round by the silos and launch ramps, as well as past the lighthouse. If you drive round past Port Canaveral, to the CCAFS gate there, you can see the Navajo exhibit just inside the base - whatever you do, don't just drive in, the guards are armed, and it's difficult enough getting on base when you're *meant* to be there and are escorted by USAF personnel!! On the central reservation of that road, leading into the the industrial area at CCAFS, there's another missile mounted as a disply, though for the life of me I can't recall what it is - might be a Matador.

Also, don't forget to visit the Astronaut Hall of Fame, which is on the NASA Causeway on the way to the KSC visitor centre - IIRC it's now included in the price of KSC admission.

If you are going to NY, there are two that will fill the bill...Hangar11 Hobbies in Washingtonville NY (https://www.hangar11.com)
Countdown Hobbies in Bethel CT (https://www.countdownhobbies.com)

Are these large stores with plenty of rocket kits and parts?

I'll be in New York City.

How far would I need to go to get to these places?

What about launches?

I'm also going to Orlando. Anybody know of any stores there?

Then you should stop doing obvious, childish things like in the attached picture! Geeze, big secret who is responsible for this!

NEFAR launches are on the 2nd Saturday of the month at the Clegg Sod Farm. Maps and directions are available on their website: www.nefar.net. I've only been once so I am not the authority.
