What are the pros/cons of using centering rings and bulkheads made from fiberglass vs. plywood?

Wood:
Cheap
Strong
Fiberglass:
Expensive (compared to wood)
Stronger than plywood (on average)
Both are good, strong, materials. If you are cutting your own, the wood has fewer hazards is readily available and costs a lot less.
The dust from fiberglass can be nasty. Use a respirator.
