If you haven't seen it, the September issue of Discover magazine has an interesting article regarding a privately-funded effort to develop a cheap liquid-powered launch vehicle.

Any dyed-in-the-wool rocketeer should have a hard time NOT noticing the cover - a rocket flying against a bright blue sky......
 
It really IS a nice picture. Granted, it's a Boeing Delta II, while the article is about SpaceX, but hey, it gets the idea across.

For those that haven't read the article, it's interesting. Am I sold that they are going to be the vanguard of the future? Not by a long shot - but they've got some good ideas.

That was an interesting article. I think some of their claims are overly ambitious, but we'll see.
