I'm about to down scale this one now that I have smaller R/C equipment...

Count me in!
I know nothing about them but I'm fascinated by gliders and any non-traditional recovery types like helicopters, monocopters etc
A dedicated forum would be a great place to learn about it.
how about getting rid of the educational outreach section or whatever its called (which is a new section and has had zero action) and replacing it with something that people want - A GLIDER SECTION.

Being into rocket boosted gliders, including RC controlled rocket boosted gliders, I would love to see a dedicated forum. Gliders have many unique qualities, both in construction and flying, that make a separate forum worth while…
You know, I'm probably the biggest Aerospace nut there is. I don't care if it's full size, r/c airplanes, model rockets or whatever. But, I can't see opening up another forum for R/C - only because it'd open the door to everyone's favorite rocketry niche (e.g. micro, goonies, space ships, etc.) - which would see us having far too many areas.
I would combine regional and national events and use the space to make a glider forum.

more rockets then cents
Well, look at how little use the "Advanced" forum is getting.
Less than a Gliders or Scale forum would.

Hint #1: Do not use magician's flash paper for recovery wadding!
Hint #2: Clean your shoes after flyin' in that cow pasture - that ain't no dirt clod on the sole!
Bummer, a glider forum would have been cool.![]()

I totally agree.
A glider forum will get a lot more use than some of the other forums. The advanced forum is barely used.
There is a little more traffic in the Software and Electronic forums but they aren't heavily used either. Both subject were covered in the support and recovery forum on the old TRF.

Its pretty obvious that some of the forums don't get much use. Some are that way by design and others were a deliberate test to see if they would be used (or not). A reconfiguring of the forums is planned but a few other things have to happen first.

That's not really my call. I suppose there's always a chance but what has been suggested for others is to find a unique way of designating glider threads. The presence of a significant number of threads that have been designated/marked in this way may eventually persuade the admins to make such a change. If nothing else, then you've gained a way to do more specific searches in the meantime.
Still, the final decision may not yet have been made. Troy and the other admins and mods *do* read these threads even if it seems we don't act on them immediately. If you can rally your troops and demonstrate that there really are a lot of you who want a glider forum, then your voice might just be heard.
Blessings,
John

Bump...
Still wanting a "Rocket Boosted Gliders" forum.

There is about 25 other forums, and your arguing over adding one more?
having so many forums listed is a waste of photons and mouse scrolling for those with small monitors. alot of them also confuse those new to forums or the internet.
Get rid of Area 51, if you think a glider forum will be pointless, why don't you open your eyes.
Merge National and Regional Events
Merge wanted and yard sale, just tell users to put Sale: or wanted: at the start of the title
Merge low power and mid power forums, no reason to have 2 seperate forums for rockets pretty much on the same topic, either that or merge mid power with high power.
Get rid of scratch built, pointless as well (at least on the old TRF, before AKPilot bought it out), use HPR or LPR-MID forums.
Merge Electronics with the rocketry software forum, they don't need to be separated.
Folks, folks, folks . . .
I hear the desire for an r/c glider forum, I really do - as I explained above in this thread. I too am one of the biggest aerospace nuts out there!!!
It's as I mentioned elsewhere r/c boost gliders are a niche. If I was to open that up, then I'd have every niche out there coming forth (e.g. goony forum, sci-fi rocket forum, micro forum, etc.).
Am simply not going to go there - despite even my own personal desire.
Can we let it go now, please?
Agree with Area 51
Absolutly NO to merge of mid and low power, have no interest in mid and high power since I can't do either
Don't like merger of Mid and High Power but could live with it
Love the scratch build, leave it alone
Merge Software amd Electronic. You could but they are really 2 different things, could live with it
ABSOLUTLY YES TO A GLIDER FORM!!!!!!!
YES to a glider forum since it would support RG, BG, and R/C disciplines.

You don't get a lot of people asking for how to get started making Goonies, or Sci Fi rockets. You do get quite a lot of people asking about how to make rocket powered gliders of all stripes (BR, RG, RC, FF, plans, kits, etc). That should be enough to tell you that the community would benefit from having that in one place. Now you may get a question (and the answers) in multiple different forums. The thread tagging feature helps, but it's not going to be obvious enough for folks looking for rocket boosted glider information.
