Dunno Maybe you got a couple from a 'bad' batch of 54's that didn't have quite enough Ti or Mg(or whatever they use to make the sparks)?Seems CTI also had a little run in with mislabeling some loads..Some got and flew what were labeled as skids but were reds instead..Not slamming anyone, shtuff happens sometimes...

How did your 'Pyramid' rocket fly Ben?

They were certainly skids (as opposed to other CTI propellants) but just looked different to the others... ah well, they looked cool anyway, just not what I expected.

As for the Samurai... the up bit was good, one of the four CTI loads decided however to eject at 1 second after burnout rather than the 10/12 seconds they were set to and zippered it and destroyed the chute.

Bummer when you put so much into a project and someone elses product fails and messes it up for you :-( That said, I've flown 50+ CTI Pro-54 loads in the last 5 years and this is the first one that's failed. That's not a bad rate for pyrotechnic products!

Anyway, chatting to CTI about it at the mo... hopefully it can be rebuilt and re-flown within a year or so.

Mine flew on a CTI L1410 Skidmark. Much more "spark" and black smoke with a nice throaty roar then Metalstorm motors for sure. Here are a couple videos of it shot with a keychain cam strapped on with electrical tape. Not bad for a $10 cam. One is full speed, the other is slowed down to about 1/2 speed.

Yeah I prooved that this weekend.. One cluster of 4 CTI "k's" Mercury little joe, and central "L" and 4 H skids airstarted in the Aries.. BOTH PERFECT FLIGHTS... Those CTI motors are so easy and work SOO WELL.

The better thing is Jeoren from CTI was out there this weekend and I watched him help out customers all weekend long. He got in there with the gloves on and steered guys in the right direction. he even came ove while I was prepping the little joe and offered his help.. THAT IS ONE CLASS ACT! Thanks CTI you guys ROCK!!! eh..

He needs to spend some time at a Northern Colorado Rocketry launch. CTI seems to be the only thing these guys fly, but I guess they have a low tolerance for tricky motor assembly and stuff blowing up on you.
