charred fin repair's?

hi....has anyone any surgestions on repairing slightly charred balsa fins and is there anything i can treat balsa with to prevent charring in the first place..???

I've used epoxy. Once I even used copper flashing (great stuff)

JimZ flew his Wombat at NARAM...a Great flyer...but small.

He use a flattened piece of Coke Cola can under the engine mount and epoxied down.

Try high temperature paint like they use on motors or grills.

With a normal rocket (not a glider or something similar) you can simply wrap some masking tape around the base of the motor or glue the thrust ring further down to move the flame further back.
