Our last batch of launch photos [e.g., our first attempt at launch photos] came out kinda grainy, particularly the take-off shots with the zoom lens. It was mostly overcast the day of the launch. Under ideal conditions [sunny, few clouds], what would be the ideal film speed? We're using a Nikon with a pretty good zoom lens and, IIRC, 400 speed film.

For normal outdoors, I use ASA 200 and for really good quality outdoor photos, I will use ASA 100 on bright sunny days. I can lock in with my Nikon and 200mm zoom very well and "freeze" some really good launch photos at a high shutter speed.

400 ASA is WAY too grainy when zoomed or enlarged. It's just the nature of the film.
