"Flame expander"

A while ago a saw a photo and short description <i>somewhere</i> (RMR, here, other forum, website...) of a rocket that had a motor not placed at the end of the body tube, but a little into the tube, with a nozzle-like construction inside so that the flame would expand to the full body tube diameter at the rocket's aft end. It definitely decreased performance, but looked awesome! Does anybody have a clue where I can find this?
