My altitude record is quite low, 1622 ft with the G-force on an H170.

I may have flown some BP 2 stage rockets to higher (Mongoose C6-C6, Savage D12-C6) but this is the highest altitude I've flown with an altimeter. This flight was mostly a test of the G-force to see if it can fly H's (I removed the baffle and swapped the included motor hook for an estes retainer so it can fly up to 6GXL motors rather than being limited to G's).

I204 Imax sims above 2700, that may be my next altitude flight. I also may try a G250 Vmax at moffet.

Between 2,750ft. and 3,250ft. with my home-built, min-diameter rocket "Challenger II" on an E9-6. (For the record, there was no altimeter recording, I built it in OpenRocket which said it would fly to 2,909ft.)

21K with my Competitor 4 on a CTI M840.
Hoping to break 35K in 2015.

Fairly modest result here, 5600 ft on a very vintage LOC Caliber (3") with CTI I100

I'm seeing an interesting theme here....

About 2200 feet in my Darkstar Jr on an I357. That was highest recorded.

4667 on a Darkstar Jr. with an I540.

Highest recorded: Darkstar lite DD on an H268R to 2152 ft.

6950' in my Darkstar on a K805G

3" Darkstar on a CTI K360 to 4911'

Wildman 3" Darkstar on a 54-2000 research motor at Argonia! 7128'

5627' darkstar jr on a AT J500

11,761' - Loki L-1400 in a kit-bashed 3" Darkstar.

My best altitude to date is about 11,500, I forget the exact. That was on a scratch built, 6" diameter rocket, about 10' long. Used a KBA M-1450 in it, the stratologger on board also registered 1,020 mph, for about Mach 1.3 :D Phil L.

Hey,,,
This is a really cool thread....

Mine was 12,136 ft. With my scratch Altitude Seeker on a Aerotech 54 / 2560 K 480 W ...

The exact same motor pushed my Green Hornet to 11,737,,,

Which,, honestly,, I found kind of surprising considering the Altitude Seeker is a 54 mm min D
and the Green Hornet is a scratch 3" rocket with a rather short, retro looking nose cone.....

If you'd have asked me before this, I thought the diameter of the rocket had more of an effect then that....

Oh,,
I remember that flight of yours Jeff,,,,
At Potter,,,
Very cool.....

Recovered, 7688 ft in my extended Polecat 5.5 inch Nike Smoke on a CTI L935 Imax. Lost a 54 mm min. diam. Badd Azz Space Cowboy going to 20 k or more on a CTI K300.

Despite attempting my L2, my altitude record is 4415 in my Aura on a G64. Possibly higher as my vents where on the nose cone. I was pretty lucky to find it as no one saw it come down. Little bit frustrated about that as it was set before I started HPR.

Wow, that's really interesting Teddy, a 54mm minumum diameter only went 400 ft. higher than a 3". what are the weights on those two??

How funny is this----

Oh Man.....
I knew somebody was going to ask that,,,
It's such an obvious question.... lol...

The truth is Nate,,,
I'm not exactly sure..
I weigh them both each time I fly them of course..
That's with a different motor in them each time...
Maybe 8 to 9 lbs,, ready to fly, but no motor,, on both......

I can say that they are both very close in weight...
That's the heaviest load that's ever been in them,,,
I'm going to guess and say 11.5 lbs on both with that load....

November 2013, Madcow Tomach 54 slightly modified on a CTI K300 to '23,389

14,422' at Balls 23. CTI M1770-P Skidmark in my 6" Ultimate Endeavour "Phred." Up was great:smile:, down was a whole different story:facepalm:.

My Estes V-2 hit 1,398' with an F24-7 back in May.

Pretty sure I've gone higher than that when I built a few MPRs back in the mid '90s. But I have no way of knowing for certain what the actual altitudes were.

Just did my level 2 Saturday put a Loki J-396 in my binder design bat 2880'

This last weekend at RocStock drag racing with Wayco with identical 3" Darkstars loaded with CTI L935's to 12,839'

Yes, but...

Who won the drag race?

ME!

Here is the video that WoShuGui posted on the RocStock thread:

Here is a video of the 3" DarkStar drag race Wayne and Sharon did today. Also a cool pad side video of Nibbles, the world famous Astrocat, taking to the heavens again in yet another feat of daring-do.

Nice. What mods did you do? Did you bevel fins or use stock?

The fins were beveled by hand, first with a file followed by a whet stone. The main body tube was shortened by 2 inches and the payload by 3 inches.
The nosecone tip bolt was replaced with an eye bolt to allow more room forward for the main chute.

3 in Wildman HEDD on a K590 DT.
13820 feet as reported by Stratologger.

Thanks. Great job BTW. I have most of the parts to rebuild my lost Space Cowboy except for the fins. I have non bevelled Tomach fins and nice bevelled Wildman Blackhawk 54 fins. The Space Cowboy, Tomach, and Blackhawk 54 are very similar except for the fins. (other distinctions and coolness factors, but mainly fins). The Tomach fins are similar size to Space Cowboy, although obviously a lot simpler version. The Blackhawk 54 fins are quite a bit larger. Decisions decisions.

I finally made it over a mile. 7200' on a CTI K500 in my RocketryWarehouse G3. It might have gone Mach 1 too, but I don't trust baro data for the velocity.

4" darkstar to about 9,600' on a CTI L935. A modified Hyperloc 835 went just over 10,000' during the Dark Matter drag race at LDRS 31 but that was a joint project that I was a small part of.

A little over 5,550 feet on two Coaster BP motors back in November of 1960!!
LOL a long time ago!
