Question for those with a RRC2-Mini

I received the altimeter about 1 week ago and was mounting it in the alt
bay today...Never using an altimeter before and before permanently mounting it in, I read and re-read the paperwork...I then removed the "protective tape" from the profile switch and attached a 9 volt battery clip to the - + posts on the altimeter...Imagine my anticipation for my first beeps emanating from my brand new altimeter..Then nada, no beeps, no leds light function, deadsville...Ok whats the odds in two coppertops being dead in the new brand new package, attached another...Nada, nothing..So am I that inept or something wrong with my new unit..?? Voltmeter shows juice to the altimeter posts, just thought Id throw that in !!!! Thanks in advance.....

Do you have a switch/jumper wire installed?

You also need a power switch (or just twisted wires) on the posts next to
    the +/- posts.

Refer to the Figure 2 drawing on page 5 of the manual.

    DUGGGHHHHH .... I am inept....

Heck, I was following directions too !!!!!!! That did do the trick....OK, one more and Ill buy ya the beer AFTER launch.....Why the continuing beep..(Green LED, will go on indefinatley)...I am looking but cannot find it...(Of course I saw the diagram with the switch, and ignored it too)...

Scratch that....battery lock out less than 9 volts....

    From Page 2 -
    Launch Detect mode
When all previous modes are complete, the unit transitions into launch detect mode. The
piezo and the GREEN LED indicate the continuity status of the
drogue and main output terminals every 2 seconds as follows:

Long Beep/Flash No continuity on Drogue or Main

So, do you have jumpers on the main/drogue posts to simulate ematches?

Also, does this happen after the battery voltage check and baro initialization (Yellow)?

Thought you said these were new coppertops? And shouldn't that
    be a RED LED?

Brand new from home depot...The LED is green but a continuing beep says low voltage... Its a bit of a learning curve...My first few HP launched will be for alt reading only...

No the continuing beep meens no continuity on drogue or main. Lockout would be a continous tone.

First the altimiter goes into: Power-up mode with Battery Indicator
When power is first applied to the unit, it will provide a continuous 3-second chirp to indicate it has been switch on. During this
3-second chirp the LED will flicker in 1 of 3 colors relative to battery voltage. This indicator is a quick means of verifying the
operational voltage of your battery without using a voltmeter. The LED colors and the associated battery voltages are:
GREEN Battery Voltage 8.5 volts or above
YELLOW Battery Voltage between 8.5 volts and 7.5 volts
RED Battery Voltage below 7.5 volts
In addition, the unit has an optional battery voltage “lockout” feature during this mode. When enabled, this lockout feature
activates a continuous alarm tone on the piezo and prevents further operation when the battery voltage is at or below 6.5 volts.

After the power up mode the altimiter goes into: Baro initialization mode

After the Power-up mode, the unit goes through a 15-second baro initialization start-up delay. The LED will flash slowly in
YELLOW slowly while in this mode. This delay period allows stabilization and establishes an initial barometric history.

Then it goes into: Launch Detect mode

When all previous modes are complete, the unit transitions into launch detect mode. The piezo and the GREEN LED indicate
the continuity status of the drogue and main output terminals every 2 seconds as follows:
Long Beep/Flash No continuity on Drogue or Main (This is what you are seeing.)
1 Short Beep Continuity on Drogue only
2 Short Beeps Continuity on Main only
3 Short Beeps Continuity on Drogue and Main

It is my opinion that stupidity should be painful, very painful. If it was I think there would be less of it in the world today.

Thanks Sailor...I haven't messed with it since my last post...I finished building the alt-bay tho...This weekend I will watch the video with instructions in hand...Its first flight will be for a alt reading only...No dual deploy...I thought I could just keep those terminals (Main/Drogue) empty...??

Yes, you can safely fly with nothing attached to the outputs, and it will report your altitude just fine.

Alternatively, you could connect ematches or Q2G2s to them, cover them somehow so they won't damage anything, and have the chance to make sure that they fired as you expected.

Or, as an alternative, attach Christmas bulbs to the outputs, which is what I use to make my ejection charges anyway.

That was how I tested my RRC2 mini was with xmas lights and a straw to drop the pressure around the baro sensor and then watched the lights cycle from the drogue to the main to make sure it worked.I have had it for quite a few months now and its finally going to get its first flight tomorrow.

Having the attention span of a ferret on methamphetamines, "I" found the instructions that came with my RRc2 Minis a bit confusing due the PDF formating of the pages.

What I did was print the PDF instructions and then cut each page out. I then stapled them together to a make a little RRc2 Mini instruction book.

Step by step, page by page, doing this made it a lot easier to get familiar with it.

    For whatever it's worth.
